I really don’t think it’s a difficult decision. fk careful spending. Top 4 could well be the difference between continued decline (becoming harder and harder to halt) or turning a corner. Not even trying for it is criminal.

We had to pay 75m for VVD - 25m of that was something we really didnt want to have to pay but had to as we fked up... I very much doubt we look at that 25m now and worry about it.
In 4 years if Haaland carries on as he is he will be worth 150m + so even if he did go you would not have done to bad out of him.

Failure to strengthen with experience in this window is writing the season off. We still have a chance in Europe and possibly the fa cup but the crowd is going to turn properly on the Glazers and Woodward. A toxic old Trafford isn’t going to help at all and fans will not bother with cup games. An experienced midfielder and a striker on loan surely isn’t beyond united in January? We are screaming out for them. It too much for Greenwood and James to shoulder.

The Birmingham kid is a star by all accounts happy we are in for him, how may times do we get criticised for ignoring this kind of talent then paying double in 3 or 4 years? Damned if we do, damned if we don’t.

Don’t expect anything ,the objective is a 2-3 year project .
The frustration is how poor the league is means we actually should and could finish top 4 ,but with a thinner squad and probably our 3 best players out with long term injuries it makes things more difficult .

I think you are right, this is a poor league apart from Liverpool, so top 4 would be achievable. Surely the experience of European football would help the players develop and assist in attracting better players to the side. There would be riots in Madrid if the manager said they were working to challenge in 2 or 3 years for the big competitions.
