Shocking thought for the day. Leicester have absolutely collapsed recently but are still miles clear of the chasing pack. Such a poor season from all the big sides other than Liverpool.
I don’t agree with that. Liverpool have had an exceptional season in terms of results. Their score lines aren’t always massively dominant, but winning all bar one match at this point of the season is astonishing. City & Leicester have had what used to be a normal season, averaging around 2 points per match to lead the league and having a tussle for what should be top position.
The other teams I agree have let themselves down but swap team names around a bit and it’s a normal season from 5 years or so ago. Everyone has just got used to one team steaming off into the distance. Didn’t United finish second a few years ago but 17 points off the top?
The problem for me is that many teams seem to have a mental block when the league leaders come to town and simply roll over and lose. Most did it for two years with City until they decided to have a go this year. Some are doing it with Liverpool, although more recently having a go of sorts. I think they’ve won by 1 goal in around half their league matches this season. It’s still three points and it’s still a victory so not dismissing that just saying it’s not a display of absolute dominance and sweeping all other teams aside.
When Ferguson won the league and retired United had done similar, let the opposition score one goal more in every match and you’d have had a Moyes season.

Seems to be a good VAR-day for United, clever unseen dive from Ferandes and the Dawson handball which VAR did see.
You’re more objective and knowledgable, obviously. You’re the only person to think there was a dive. Sad person.Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
