TalkVandriver were saying on the radio this company has only been in existence for 10 weeks? Can anyone with some access to company records check this out?

Deal fallen through, so sadly looks like Bury are no more after 5.00pm.

Coming from Heywood, living half way between Bury and Rochdale always been a good rivalry between the two, I supported Rochdale always but could have been the other way.

Given that rather ironic the last owner is called Dale.

Not sure how many Rochdale supporters will have been shouting "Up the Dale"

Considering how much money is spent on football currently another example if us and them.

People just don't want to get off their chairs for little clubs nowadays, they sit there and watch Sky and order a pizza via an app and then Uber or sombody delivers it and they spend 3 minutes off their fat backsides.

That's what these little clubs and going out with dad have up against them. As someone mentioned, a home crowd of 3.8k.

It's going to bite people on the fat butt one day.

It will be the premier teams pius their ladies teams and their 2nd elevens for the time when you are not watching the first two....

Very sad news, the current owner is a prize tt who has treated the players and employees terribly. I only hope he makes nothing from selling off what is left.

Bury fan here - used to take both my boys here on occasions. Used to live near Gigg Lane and this will really damage the town. I cannot see how a phoenix Bury will garner any support.

The community development and engagement team were fantastic and helped greatly within the local community.

Teddy Bullen, (died in WW1) played for Bury - his memorial plaque in the boardroom reads "...He died playing the greater game"

I hope that Bury's demise puts the rest of the clubs in the EFL in a better state.

Not sure Bury’s demise will help anyone else, the EFL have been shown up for the toothless mess they are, they do nothing to stop charlatans taking over clubs and their “fit and proper” test is meaningless in reality.

Sadly I think you are right. I'm in Bury town centre at the moment - it seems a little more subdued and pensive.

I really do hope Bury and Bolton's probable demise will act as a catalyst for EFL reform. That said, tougher regulations in relation to ownership could push some of the shady characters out of the picture and lay bare the financial issues that lie deep within these clubs so I can see a few more going to the wall before things stabilise.

From what I have read EFL clubs on average are operating at a loss so regulations around wage caps vs revenue are a must. I understand that almost all Championship clubs now spend more on player wages than they receive in revenue so it seems that EFL are allowing huge financial risks across all 3 divisions.

Yes. Officially out of the EFL.

There really does need to be a proper look at how this has happened.

Sad times for Bury.

As a Villa fan I feel for them, we sailed close to the wind with a potential winding up order from HMRC at the end of the 17/18 season, despite getting gates of 38k in the Championship, all under the tenure of clueless muppet “Dr” Tony Xia.

I saw the Bury owner interviewed on TV the other day, he lived up to my expectation of asset stripping charlatan pretending to be bothered about the future of the club. If he profits from this - presumably his end game is selling the ground off for development- then there is absolutely no justice in the world.

Presumably he passed the EFL’s ‘fit and proper person’ test?

Terrible news that they have been expelled from the league. Their die hard fans must be devastated.

It is terrible news and I feel for the fans, however let us hope it is the wake up call required so that others don't have to go through this sort of terrible event.

No, he wasn't subjected to their checks, save for 'he has never been declared bankrupt '. Something to do with time and assurances.

Terrible for the fans. Perhaps the high number of clubs in the northwest just isn't sustainable anymore though with these two close neighbours in trouble, declining attendances etc.

Bury haven't played any matches this season so it was easy to resolve. What happens to the league if Bolton go having played several matches though? Are those results just deleted?

I believe so.

As it stands, only three will be relegated from L1 in May, with 4 still promoted. What happens in L2, I'm not sure, one less relegation? Or one extra promotion from the NL?

One less relegation from L2, so only one down.

And if Bolton go the same way in 2 weeks time, there will be no one going down from L2!
