I think our bench Vs city was quite strong considering our first 11 were all playing.

Adrian, Milner, Keita, Gomez, Ox, Lallana, Origi.

It's decent imo.

Haha, got to have something to mither about.

I get why we can't have equivalent replacements on the bench (money, players want to play) but the drop off to the subs is quite stark.
Did you say that after Barca at home?
Comfortable with Shaq and Origi playing instead of Mane and Salah for 15 games in a row?

Don't let it bother you, you're more interested in Wales football anyway

It's funny because I feel like under another manager who can't get the best out of his players - that bench could be considered poor. But because of the really important goals Ox, Lallana and Origi pop up with, the machine that Milner is, how well Adrian has done (despite being poor at WHam) and Keita showing the odd flash of brilliance it's actually a really strong bench.

The barca game was a once in a lifetime event (though being an lfc fan we have seen a few similar - not quite that scale though). It was a managerial success, a team success, but also relied on the idea barca were mentally weak as fk. Watch as the second goes in, they all knew what was coming. I am not saying they let it happen, but it was one of those games and they will wonder forever more how they let it happen.

If we were to have to play those lads for a run of games, I would be worried we would drop points. Whether we drop enough points I dont know, as City look like a team who are going to be a team which has always got a fk up in them. Even if they replace full backs and centre back in January, there is no certainty it will bring them back to the type of team who can win 19 in a row.

Finally on the drop off, it is large, but that is because of first 11 is so good. I would say it is the best in europe by quite a way. Our squad isnt. I dont think there is a player in world football who would happily come to LFC, sit on the bench and play when the others dont, and not have a big drop off. To be at that level you have to have the mentality that you play every game and the form the comes from every game.

We have the best bench we've had in as long as I can remember... and we should perhaps consider ourselves lucky that all we have to moan about is a lack of world class on the bench... majority of teams are moaning about needing to strengthen the starting line up.

In the Prem, only City have the resources to effectively field 2 1st teams.

VVD has pulled out of the Netherlands game for personal reasons. Hopefully those reasons involve putting his feet up.

I though healthy, reasonable debate was acceptable on here?

In Welsh international news, Harry Wilson scored on Saturday.

Sure thing

Can we get better back up than Shaq and Origi, yes

We didn't though at the summer for poss 2 reasons, who he wanted was not avail or he was but to much money so he wants to wait

We didn't have the money and he didn't want to sign someone just for the sake of it (something he doesn't really do)

Do u think we will sign someone, yes if not Jan then summer but its not so easy to sign someone for those positions when they know they will be back, and no I don't want to rotate our front 3 with someone not as good just to keep them happy..
Who ever comes in has to be better than Origi and Shaq bur be happy to sit on the bench in the Prem unless we have an injury or he wants to give 1 a break for a game in a game we should win, that is not easy

City do it but put Mahrez on more money than we pay Salah, Mane, VVD we don't pay silly wages so will make it harder

Seems unlikely he was looking to replace Origi in particular - he was given a new contract in early July, after all.

Origi is a weird one. He has the attributes to be a great player, but there just seems something missing. That said, he has been sensational as a big game/big moment player. He was awesome v Barca, ran the line so well and obviously reacted when only one other fker in the stadium knew what was going on to score that goal.

He could end up winning two of the biggest trophies in club football in two seasons while being a bit part player, but he played an enormous role last year and you would not be surprised if he does again this season. That said, you'd not want to rely on him for 10 games in a row. Therefore, you wonder what is in his head. Does he want to play minutes, be a good player in a good side, or does he want to be a bit part for one of the best sides in europe.

Made up we gave him a new contract, but I kind of hoped it meant someone like Werner was also coming in (which could happen in the next window.)

Origi is only 24 I think he'll do a great job of stand in striker/sub when needed as he already is.

Pretty sure he know she wont be 1st choice but seems happy with the setup.

I agree with you. The thought of having Origi or Shaq in the team for 10 straight games concerns me but it's nigh on impossible to attract bench warmers of real quality.

Could Ox come in for Mane or Salah?

That's awful, let's hope he is in the clear and he makes a speedy recovery.

His technique striking the ball is wonderful, very similar to Gerard. It's incredible seeing his cross field passing with his weaker foot as well. He could quite easily play a more advanced role as he matures.
