Just a thought on Lovren. Gomez got back into the team and was gradually less awful over several games - far more "off the pace" in his first game back than Lovren has been. Didn't cost us because the team was playing well. Lovren hasn't played in God knows how long, makes a mistake and gets crucified for it "because its Lovren".

Some players are just untouchable; some are scapegoats.
Lovren always has a crap game in him, regardless of how much he's played. A la Europa League final. Or the Spurs game at Wembley.

Agreed. Last week we let in 2 without him. The team has just stopped playing like we were before. Lost the intensity, and lost TAAs perfect passes which often got us a goal when we had played poorly anyway.

Watford have been on it all game: closing down and hustling all the time. Big credit to them (and West Ham).

Our front three don't seem to have had much of the ball and they've not done much with it.

Stay calm when the WUMs arrive.

I don't think he has been at fault for any of the goals. But he doesn't instil confidence and doesn't have the pace to get back into position the way Gomez does.

Yep. Possible first loss all season, title all but sown up, and a ‘fan’ is already calling for one of your players to never play for you again. You’ll never walk alone and all that. Shameful really.

He's also saved us in other games in the past. No-one ever mentions TAA's crap games because he is a genuine talent. I'd just like him to stop having crap games as often as lately.

We’ve had this coming for a while, cruised through games and forgotten how to play at full pace and crush teams

Watford playing very well to be fair
Had to happen sooner or later, you have been just scraping through a few recently .

Probably a good thing in the long run & it certainly won’t do them any harm.

Just a couple of silly records gone that matter not.

Lovren is lovren a liability.

But yes correct. One maybe two shots.

Watford have not had much to do defensively.

Not saying I prefer him over Gomez, of course. I honestly thought Matip would be 3rd choice but he must really have tanked lately.

Theyve been solid in defense which is why we've not had shots

Mings and Karius kept plenty of clean sheets, but they also cost us games. Lovren just isn't good enough (read: consistent enough) to be in our squad.

We build so slowly now though, which is one of the main problems. It gives teams time to go back and defend. 2nd gear is ok if you hit 4th gear some of the times in the game to hit the other team on the break. We haven't done that today.

At least all the talk of records and greatest ever team can stop now.

Agree with the poster saying lovren shouldn't be the scapegoat- the whole team has been below par with little passion and zero intensity.
Very rare that you can say that about this bunch.

Worst game for VvD in a liverpool shirt.

Liverpool haven't been the Liverpool we've seen all season for a couple of games now.

I guess with the unbelievable high standards and consistency they've achieved for so long, there'll always be a 'rough patch'.

Surely every single person playing FF around the world will have predicted a win and so it won't change anyone's position?
