It’s going to be a real tough game on Monday night and their new manager as them set up to be really hard to beat. As the saying goes in football if you are going to win trophies you after beat whoever is put in front of you.

It’s behind the Sofa Hairy that’s where you want to be when we have our backs to the wall.

It's time to cast away the sofa Hilly and spread out on your chaise-long, this is the new Everton that plays ugly and wins ugly!

This has been an odd season, but I have to comment about the number of times I've heard pundits and commentators mention how Liverpool are more affected than most by the lack of fans, Carra was at it again last night! They are barrel scraping to explain away the fact that their manager has run out of ideas, but it's an absolute affront to supporters of all other clubs to claim that 'they' are more affected.

I think Doucoure needs a long break, he looks knackered and Gomes needs to bury the ghosts of the Son tackle, seeing him turn backwards into the challenge last night spoke volumes, I still think he's a good player but the scars are still there and no idea how or who sorts that. Otherwise my only real reservation is Iwobi, I really like him for his attitude and effort but I just can't see a player in there, last night we were effectively playing with 10 men until Carlo hooked him. I think he was an expensive panic buy after we missed out on Zaha, such a shame but I can't see him staying.

We have learned to defend a lot better now, before it was always a matter of time before the opposition scored but we seem to put great tackles in, players blocking and attackers coming back to do their bit Richarlison especially.

We do need a replacement for Iwobi. He has improved and always gives his all, but he really can't put a ball in the box!

Carlo has said he wants 2 or 3 signings in the summer, at a guess RB, Iwobi replacement and back up for DCL. I don't see King staying on past the end of the season in all honesty

Let’s not fall into the trap of being to harsh on our players during a good run, yes there will always be players that we could improve always better players that we could dream of having. But criticising our players when we are winning, and in a reasonable place, perhaps challenging for a top four post.... well, that’s what they do ‘over there’. Let’s not. COYBs.

It’s a difficult one, King hasn’t really had much of an opportunity yet but it’s hard to see where he would fit in, I have a feeling he hasn’t played much this season so maybe he’s just rusty but I’ve not seen anything yet that would make me hope we sign him permanently. The Moise Keane situation is also a consideration, but I get the feeling he wants away.

I said earlier that I like Iwobi, but he rarely goes past the last defender and crosses early, little impact overall but I just sense there’s a player in there, hope I’m right.

I’m response to TT, I often agree with him on a range of issues but not this, it’s a forum and we are here to talk about the game and the team. Provided we keep it civil, honest criticism and opinion is what it’s all about, win or lose. ‘They’ are a cult and it’s our ability to remain grounded and open minded that separates us, let’s not stifle that.

To my eyes Iwobi has improved a lot and I think there is more to come from him - hope so, I am sure it is just a confidence thing. Otherwise I am very pleased to see Pickford back in form and I love the way the defence is shaping up - we could have a settled defence for years to come.

Fantasy player - Jack Grealish but Zaha would be great. Dont see top 4 this year but next year?

I think we have a reasonable claim on top four, wouldn’t have said that a month ago but we are so solid at the back now that teams will struggle to score against us. I think City and Chelsea are nailed on, most likely United but after that it’s anyone’s. Much as I’d love it, I’d prefer the cup.

Chelsea game will indeed be a biggun. Hopefully Brighton will get a result tonight.

I’ve been looking at our run in and based on league positions we have an easier fixture list than Leicester, who I would suggest are the main competition for fourth (of the teams above us). If we beat Chelsea the picture will change, but under Tuchel they’re starting to look very good and I’m not expecting anything out of our visit to the bridge.

At least we have something to get excited about as the season comes to an end, with a quarter final coming up it makes a nice change.

That is a cake and a half smile

Carlo speaking at yesterday's presser:

"I am really happy to be the manager of this team and these players.

“I feel these players follow me. They have a lot of respect for my idea."

Keep the faith.

Btw the RS thread is quiet this afternoon... I see they don't like it much when the boot is on the other foot. 6 times lar laugh

Carlo has also supposedly said he hopes to still be charge when we move to the Stadium that’s three years away, so you could say he wants to build a dynasty. Let’s hope so, but three years is a long time in football.

No dynasty, but hopefully the start of something rather special. UTFT!
