I think it will be Nuno. It could be a lot worse, and I'd be fairly happy with him. He's like walking out of a night club with a 7 out of 10 going back to yours. We all want a 10 out of 10, but our 10 fked off with a rich bloke. A 7 isn't a bad rebound, things could be a lot worse
But their only a 7 out if 10 at 2am. By 9am they’re more like a 3 out of 10. Or worst. And we aren’t even 7 out of 10 material frankly.
It's very quiet on the manager front. I see Nuno's talks with Palace have broken down, not sure why. I see we're being linked by a few sites with Christophe Galtier, on the plus side he's just won the league in France. The doen side is he was assistant manager at Portsmouth when they got relegated from the PL. At least he has PL experience though
Nuno to Palace broke down over his backroom staff demands. Nuno has just about the largest backroom staff team of anyone and it’s highly unlikely he’d want to work with any of them missing. They won’t come cheap either, so that will always be a stumbling block for some clubs, as it will pretty much mean a club needs to be happy to clear out their entire coaching team or close to in order to bring Nuno in.
Rui Pedro Silva, Joao Lapa, Rui Barbosa, Julio Figueroa and Antonio Dias are just as big a part of Nuno’s management as Nuno himself in his eyes. Ideally, he’d also want to add Ian Cathro to that list too.

Sounds like a gravy train. It’s a big NO from meRui Pedro Silva, Joao Lapa, Rui Barbosa, Julio Figueroa and Antonio Dias are just as big a part of Nuno’s management as Nuno himself in his eyes. Ideally, he’d also want to add Ian Cathro to that list too.

I never know what to believe, there’s just so much click bait out there that it’s impossible to separate rubbish from fact. I’d have thought that Brands now has full reign to make the appointment and hope that’s the case, but you have to wonder if Bill and Moshiri are sticking their noses in. I think we’d have hired NES by this stage if it was ever going to happen and I’m beginning to wonder if we’re waiting for the Euro’s to finish to nab our new manager.

Looking like it’s Nuno after all, I’m very surprised given events over the last week and a little underwhelmed, which may not be a bad thing given how Everton raise my hopes only to dash them with frequent regularity.
There may yet be a further twist, but I’d love to know what goes on in the murky world of football. My Wolves mates were adamant that he would leave the EPL because of his family and travel restrictions, seems he was fooling them all along.

He was desperate for the summer holiday, that was clear having not had one last year, but after that (and hopefully with travel restrictions lifted once next season gets into full swing), it’s business as usual…..
Looks like you’ll be parting company with Duncan Ferguson once Nuno and his team arrive, unless he’s given a token role, which probably wouldn’t last long anyway unless it’s far away from the bench.

I know Nuno was sacked, though there's some debate about why, it's just surprising to see him apparently taking up another role in the EPL if he was so homesick. I think you're right about Duncan, personally I would've liked to see him given a chance and maybe some time at another club could be good for him, who knows. It was rumoured that Ancelotti wants him at Madrid, if true that would be a fantastic opportunity. The decision to sack him (barring any remarkable turnaround in form) was made way back in January, but the actual act was saved until the end of the season due to the logistical challenges posed by appointing a new guy, who was always likely to be from overseas, mid-lockdown.
I don’t agree with the sacking. A lot of fans don’t, but some sections were calling for it for a while, but the reasons are the owners were getting restless with the gameplan and tactics and the appearance that we were always playing for 1-0 wins and nothing more. Compounded by the fact that our strong ability to keep clean sheets had gone out the window.
The owners wanted attacking football, and Nuno himself who is very dedicated to attention to detail, had looked at 2 consecutive 7th place finishes and looked to seek out a plan to crack the top 6 and beyond and the thing that stood out was the large rise in possession stats for the teams above. So a plan was put in place to change to a more possession-based gameplan and ultimately switch from a back 3 to a back 4. Unfortunately, the squad was slightly reshaped last season and was left halfway between a back 3 team and a back 4 team. Again, totally understandable. Any team, not even the Man City’s of this world are likely to reshape a squad for a change of style overnight, so it was accepted that it may be something of a transitional season, but given the vast injuries, struggling with lack of fans and homesickness from players and staff, it hit harder than hoped.
It was also clear there was some friction between Nuno and the owners over future plans by his interviews and uncharacteristic evasiveness when asked certain questions. This was due to the current climate and club FFP issues, he was advised a couple of players he really didn’t want to sell, would likely need to be sold this summer to allow re-investment to reshape the squad to go in the direction they wanted.
With all that in mind, and his own serious struggles with homesickness, it explains why he had gone from one of the most animated managers we’ve seen in this country to someone who spent 95% of the time last season motionless and staring into space during times of adversity last season.
He was unrecognisable last season from the man who went wild celebrating a last second winner in the Bristol City directors box after being sent off!

As for anyone being surprised at him going straight into a job in the Premier League, I think that’s pretty naive. He wants to be managing and his reputation in England is vastly better than it is anywhere else in the World. Yes, he had major issues with missing his family, but the previous season we had played 13 months straight. The longest season in history for any club, even if there was an enforced gap in there. Then straight into another season with virtually no break. Then restricted travel etc etc. Now, he will have a decent rest and time with family and then he’ll be hungry to get back to work, hopefully with travel restrictions soon to be removed it will business as usual and back to the old Nuno. He does have a son who is a student in Manchester, so he won’t be a million miles from him also.
