Hi all

I went to Costco for the first time over the weekend and ended up buying a big pot of fresh picked crab. I’m hoping to do something with it this weekend and need some inspiration. I was thinking some sort of pasta dish with red chilli or maybe a risotto? Any suggestions and/or recipes welcomed.

Thanks in advance

JK

Crab is such a delicate sweet meat , I never mask the flavour with anything,
Just served with salad or similar

Not a big fan of crab (or lobster for that matter) but risotto springs to mind.

However, week old crab is not going to be particularly "fresh" so double sniff test!

My mistake, I picked it up out of the fridge so thought it was fresh. Hopefully it was when it was pasteurised

Was this a container of brown crab meat (tipical UK type crab) , or king crab .as in Deadlist Catch .
I have had the king crab from cosco which does make good eating , although nothing can beat the meat from a brown crab , dark and white meat mixed together yumlick in a sandwich.

I do this crab and fennel pasta recipe quite regularly and it's easy and very tasty.

Crab is out of season in the UK, so surprised to see it available unless it's not British.

We often do a classic salad of very finely diced green apple, finely diced red chilli, squeeze of lemon juice, chopped parsley and crab. You can put it on top of piece of griddled sour dough and have a nice crisp dry white wine with it.

Personally I'd be eating crab on the day I bought it, it really doesn't stay good for long.

Sounds good.

The other half mixes it with a bit of mayo, then puts it on toasted sourdough with a small squeeze of lemon.

White crab meat from M&S. Bloody lovely. Would work with your suggestion too.
