Don’t worry GM. You’re like that loveable old grandpa that people have, who says things a bit close to the edge, but that people let them off with it because it was different when they were younger and not everyone can change.

Is that a compliment or an insult?

Sanchez looked solid.
I thought he had a very good game - if only he could be that consistent

Thoughts on Alli's response to being substituted?
I quite like that, shows he cares...

Meant in the best possible way, but given most people seem to want to take offence these days you're perfectly within your rights to do so, hehe

Talking of the new stadium - did anybody catch that program on Discovery last night about the building of the "most advanced stadium in the world"?

Richard Hammond had unrestricted access to the Tottenham Stadium.

Shame though Spurs hardly have players available to play in it, at least if the special done is to be believed.

Watched it this morning. Was pretty good though nothing that anyone following the build didn't already know. Was hoping for a bit more content on the pitch storage as there is quite an ecosystem in the trays and in the car park but they just concentrated on the lighting.

I've put this on the secret thread but might as well put it here too. I think I'm done with Jose. I thought Poch had to go, his time was just up. sometimes it just happens but I thought we'd at least replace him with someone who gets the ethos of the club.

Unfortunately we have a "not won any trophies" monkey on our back which meant that Levy felt like he had to play the percentages and get a serial winner in and Jose certainly has been that. The problem is his footballing ethos is the poorest fit imaginable. We've always tried to be a dynamic, attacking side, sometime successfully and other times not but that's sort of who we are. Jose's brand of what I can only call anti-football is the total opposite of that. Sit so deep that our forwards are almost rubbing shoulders with Loris and then hoof the ball if\when we win it. This might have worked for Jose or George Graham in the 90's but football has moved on massively, More importantly as a fan, it's absolutely st to watch.

However we probably knew a lot of that already but could forgive it because Jose wins trophies, except he's not going to do that at Spurs so what are we left with? No trophies and st football, even when we scrape a win I don't enjoy the games. We really really shouldn't be getting bossed by all and sundry in our shiny new £1bn stadium in front of 60k fans but Jose's game plan seems to be exactly that.

I'm out, someone wake me up when Jose has his usual flounce and we get someone in who actually wants our team to play football. That Liepzig manager looks tasty, I was actually envious last night, they were playing the kind of positive football we used to play 3 years ago. I hope they do well.

So who would you get in and who was realistically available at the time?

Nothing you didn't know before signing him.

Eras come and go and his time has passed.

It's going to be interesting once the dressing room unrest starts spilling into the public domain.

There were quite a few others touted at the time and I think we picked possibly the worst fit. We need someone who wants our team to actually play football. You wouldn't know it on our current showing but we actually have quite a talented midfield and front line now, if only we had a manager who let them actually play.

I'm not sure whether I'm looking forward to or dreading the media st show that will accompany Jose's departure.

I was calling for Roger Schmidt, a fashionable German manager who uses a pressing style, who is currently available (and was when Poch was sacked).

However we have Jose, so while the squad is being rebuilt, we should stick with him for the next couple of seasons.

Every club likes to say their style is attacking free flowing football but I don't think that really true. It's not as if we haven't had a load of pragmatic managers:

André Villas-Boas
Juande Ramos
Jacques Santini
Gross
Chris Hughton
Graham

For every decent attacking manager (Poch, 'arry, Jol) there has been a disaster:

Sherwood
Ardiles
Hoddle

In an age of pressing, his tactic of by passing the midfield doesn't seem unreasonable.

How do you press a ball that is in the sky?

WTF?!? As a Liverpool fan VAR is only going to rule in our favour, so there must be something wrong here?

Does he not need a bit of time? By which I mean you need to replace a few key defenders long term (doesn't matter the manager), and then have the injuries you have up front then it is going to be hard for anyone to win. I understand the general issues with Jose, but not sure anyone else would have been doing much better with what you have available currently.

I'm not talking about results, anyone would struggle to score having their two best forwards out, imagine losing Salah and Mane for months. He's also inherited a team that was broken so I'm not expecting miracles.

What I am expecting is for him to use the tools at his disposal, we have an overabundance of talented attacking midfielders so use them. Instead he is bypassing that talent totally by sitting deep and hoofing the ball so the only job our talented players get to do is chase longs balls or chase the ball down when we don't have possession.

Jose said Ali threw his boot because he was frustrated at his own performance, I think he was more frustrated at being piggy in the middle for 65 minutes and either chasing the ball and\or the Liepzig players fruitlessly or watching yet another hoofed ball fly over his head or get headed away by a Liepzig defence who had Jose's "tactics" sussed before the first whistle blew.

Never posted in this thread before, but getting really annoyed by Dele Alli. He’s been useless for two or three years now. Last night was his big chance to perform in the limelight and he flattered to deceive yet again. Then he throws a tantrum for being substituted. That’s not caring, that’s being found out.

Please don’t let him go to the Euros with England.

It’ll kick off between Dele and Jose 100%. Jose always needs a fall guy and Dele will be that man for Spurs. Already dissed him after the game last night and it’ll get worse.

He’s going to want a lot of money to spend in the summer and when Levy won’t give it him (possibly) he will have a strop and the games will start, just like it did when he was at United and he didn’t get the players he wanted.
