Ahem ..... not content with VVD, Lovren, clyne, Lallana, Mane and Lambert (ok maybe not Lambert) you want another saints player. His release clause is Saleh, Mane, Alexander Arnold and Robertson in case you wondered hehe

Interesting tone to that Vice article. Received wisdom has generally been "ignore the idiots chanting, do your job and let them know you rise above their insults". And that might have been what his team mates were saying to him. But no, they report it that he "had to fight his way off the pitch, fending away his own teammates, who were trying to force the 28-year-old to stay on the pitch and spend the next 30 minutes enduring a public mocking for being black, rather than allowing him to walk towards dignity". Not sure I like the tone of that.

To be honest, while I would fully support any player who wanted to walk, and any team mates that would do likewise with him, I think its a mistake. If racists see they get a reaction and can interfere with team lineups/games, they'll just do it all the more; at least, that's how it seems to me.

Having said that, if a playe gets abuse and his team mates all support him in whatever reaction he makes to it, that's a positive - the solidarity of the team should mean all players feel like their team mates are with them, 100%.

Edited to add that I think it's bloody ridiculous that racism is even still a thing in 2020.

Salah = £35m
Mane = £34m
Trent = Free
Robertson = £8m
Total = £77m (or 0.96 Harry Maguires)

You drive a hard bargain, but OK.

I disagree. The chants have been ignored by players, fans and clubs alike for too long. The more players take a stand and walk off, the more matches that get interrupted, the more clubs and associations will be forced to take it seriously and remove it from the stands.

Don't actually disagree; that's another POV. I hope you're right, I really do.

On the back of Curtis Jones signing a new contract, Elliott signs his first pro deal:

Routine win the other night.

I know he wanted more playing time but I wish we'd kept Ings and got rid of Origi.

Need to strengthen before next season, if only for no other reason than the likes of Lallana, Shaqiri and hopefully Origi are moving on.

That's a loss of 3 attackers.

It's not like we can't sympathize, Barcelona have done similar to us.

All you can do it get your players on long contracts and hold out for the proper money.

We got good money for Coutinho as he had to be prized out of our white knuckles and it was similar for you lot with VVD.

It's how football works.

Origi has only just signed a new contract. He's good enough to warm the bench and play in the cups. I was surprised when I saw he started in Klopps first game, talking about someone who hasn't kicked on.

Someone better wouldn't settle for Origi's position I don't think.

I'm sure the only reason the likes of Jesus do it is because he's probably on as much money as our first choice front three.

I'm aware of the new contract but the talk/suggestion was that it's so he has some market value when we move him on shortly, not because his long term future is with us.

I'm grateful for the goals he's scored but he's not good enough and on top of that he's wholly unsuited to our system.

I completely agree. I think hes a bit st really and when he's on he just lumbers around looking a bit lost.

Lallana won't play for you guys again then, looks like he is coming to us after all. Thoughts on him? Better on the wing or in the centre?

Definitely better in the middle. For the first season or two when Klopp arrived he was our best player at leading the press and very good at keeping possession and progressing play.

Of course he hasn't played much in the last two years and was always injured, and is now 32, so how much benefit you'll get from him remains to be seen.

Chelsea favourites to sign Kai Havertz. If so they do sign him, Lampard will have a very good young team.

Perhaps though, a bit too young and lacking a leader?

I see Utd and Chelsea as being very evenly matched. But as you say, both maybe just lacking that bit of experience and quality at the back.

Definitely. Biggest barrier for both will be defence. Both are average at best. If they do get Havertz, can't see Chelsea signing anyone else.

Just to correct you on that, çhelsea have conceded 13 more goals than Utd who have the 3rd best defensive record in the division. Stats are everything on here normally :-)
Other than Liverpool you'll find Utd on a par defensively with City and Leics
