It still looked outside the line to me.

The foul was debatable, definitely got the ball.
No longer matters if he got the ball. The rule changed apparently - if he gets the ball and the man, its still a foul. And any of the "foul" being on the line (even a tiny bit) makes it a pen. Hence me calling the rules a load of toss. Only this season is that a penalty.

That hasn't been part of the rules for, what? 20 years now?
Watched it 10 times and I'm 50:50. Didn't particularly slide through him.

It's actually a good game for the neutral.

I know, but he didn't really take the man, the man fell over him after the tackle had been made for me.

Glad we got a goal before halftime. Hopefully we can kick on a bit in the 2nd half now.

United played better so far, but definitely didn't deserve the pen, the overhead shot proved that.

1:1 a fair result so far.

We're low on confidence that's for sure.

I think it's a really soft foul/penalty. Must have been incredibly tight for any of it to be on the line.

However, only Fabinho or Gomez would go to ground and make that tackle. Matip and van Dijk know to stay on their feet!

They've shown it again. It wasn't even a foul. Gets the ball then the guy falls over him.

I think it’s going to be a long season.

Teams are packing the defence against us and denying the space, I think that’s where we need Thiago.

Luckily everyone seems under par this season so far

Pundits across all channels saying no penalty now, so even more confused by the rules

Missed most of the 1st half, but got on just in time to see our goal.

Saw the penalty in the half time review... 1) didn’t look like a foul to me & 2) outside the box.

It looked like a very soft pen but, for the initial challenge, the attacker's foot was on the line - which apparently counts as inside the box.

Even Michael Owen (on the feed I'm watching) said it was a definite pen and didn't quibble.

Just hoping that Sheffield can't keep up their pace in the second half.

The statement from the premier league is that VAR only ruled on whether Fab's foul was in or out of the box, NOT whether it was a foul or not.

WTF is for VAR for exactly?!

Not a 'clear and obvious' error?
