The Yidwann post from couple of days ago was pretty much spot on for me (surprisingly for a spud). Klopp has had the players turned up to 11 for the past 3 years and at some point something was going to give.. We hardly had any injuries for 2-3 seasons which is unusual considering the high tempo we play with.. The players gave everything the season before last when City pipped us by 1 point on the final day of the season so for the players to mentally come back even stronger and then win it was astonishing.. The prem is so demanding these days that I don't see long term domination like us and Utd did in the 70's 80's 90's etc, it will be more of 2-3 teams winning it for a season or two at a time then a drop off and back up again, I looked on Blue moon briefly this time last year and again at Xmas and the majority of fans wanted Pep gone..Now they are lording him again.. Its a funny old game football but I can guarantee we will be back... Remember we were top at Xmas.. We may have capitulated but things can change very quickly in football with a few injured players coming back (or god forbid one of our front 3 coming back on form).
Completely right!Edited by mr sagman on Monday 8th March 19:24
There is not a single manager out there that is immune to this sort of dip in form. We're just unlucky that, after 3+ years of being maxed out, a pandemic hit and made our issues 10x worse.

You're literally saying to try something else, anything, and yet in that time we have tried lots of different player combinations etc. A lot of modern top level football is about knowing what the people around you will have done, and crossing the ball to where you expect them to be. Since they don't know each other well/are out of position then it makes it much harder. Hence the slow passing and not breaking quickly enough.
Yup, this. Watch the team last season and it was high tempo, putting balls where you knew players would be without looking. That's not happening now - everyone is looking, going sideways, taking more than a touch. The margins are small at the top level and we're currently on the wrong side of them.My best mate is an avid Liverpool fan and he's really disappointed at the moment (obviously!). I think it's just a blip, and despite what one poster said earlier I do hope you at least get Europa, doesn't that help a little with the finances?
If you don't get into Europa do you think any players would leave? Would it be harder to attract new players? I'm not sure it would make as much of a difference at the moment anyway, with clubs less willing to spend money under the current climate. I think top 4 is now a big ask, and it's now looking likely that top 7 is a pretty tough ask too, although I think Chelsea did you a favour by winning last night, possibly.

Klopp says he's not worried about anyone wanting to leave if we don't get CL this year. Not sure if any players are bothered about the Europa League these days - they might just prefer Thursday nights at home...If you don't get into Europa do you think any players would leave? I actually think any of the top 9 are capable of a top 4 finish, given how many teams drop points unexpectedly. Granted, for some of us it involves putting a winning run together (even if for some of us that seems unlikely).

But if we don't get European football next season, it can only improve our title chances. Saying that, I think next season could be mental. If Utd build on a good season, Tuchel could start Chelsea's new boys hitting form, one or two "outsiders" make a bit more progress...

Go and put money on what you're implying then, and show us the betting slips.
I don't bet, mugs game Low has announced he's off though and I understood Klopp had expressed an interest (albeit on the previous timeline)
It's hardly a stretch to think he may be interested

He's said he'd be interested one day. He's also indicated his contract with us would be his last and he'd go off and travel a bit at the end of it. He's no quitter and it seems unlikely he'll be sacked, so - yeah Low is going and no doubt the German FA would be keen on Klopp but wrong time, probably.Flip Martian said:

I can't find the markets for Lowe to resign as Germany manager after the Euros or else I would.

It's definitely possible but highly unlucky IMO. It'll be ourselves (Leicester), WHU or Everton that end up 4th, purely because we haven't got European football to distract us, and we can get proper rest between games. 68 or 69 points will be enough to clinch 4th, that's what I'm going for anyway. In order to get that Spurs need to win 8 of their remaining 11 games, whilst competing for the EL as well. Liverpool would need 9 wins from the remaining 10 games.I actually think any of the top 9 are capable of a top 4 finish, given how many teams drop points unexpectedly. We'll know a lot more by the end of the weekend, Arsenal vs. Spurs and United vs. WHU are both key games. If you fail to beat Wolves I think that's top 4 gone.
