Yep some good displays out there today from Pepe, Willian & Ødegaard. Hard to believe after how bad we were in the first half, despite going in 2-1 up.

Were we really that bad in first half, apart from one incident of a wrong decision by Mari I am not sure we did anything else wrong. All in, that was a good performance for once.

I was worried when the team sheet came out and then they scored the early goal I was thinking here we go again.
Again like against Benfica they showed great character to come back.
The injuries to their players helped but I thought that was a really professional performance to see that game out.

Xhaka, apart from his error that led to the goal must have frustrated the hell out of them picking up free kicks and did well for the breakaway.
Luiz was solid and good goal too.

Pepe and Willian were brilliant apart from when Pepe should have passed to Odegaard on that breakaway.

Good result and great performance from all the lads.

I must have been watching a different game, apart from the 5 mins at the end of the first half when Luiz scored and we got the pen we were just passing it around and achieving the square root of FA. The goal was nieve beyond belief, they really need to get a grip of giving stupid goals away, especially when we do it so regularly at the start of a game.

Still it was a good win in the end and we controlled the second half well which makes a change. A week off now and recharge the batteries for Burnley next Saturday.

In the context of this season and given the fact a few of our better players were rested that was a great result. I’d love to know what Martinelli has done wrong though !

Thanks to the emergence of Saka and ESR and the loan signing of Odegaard we have decent options in those advanced midfield positions....I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Pepe has been playing better in the last couple of months with the increased competition.

Martinelli simply has more competition this season than he did last season, when you get your chance you need to take it.

The boss took a big gamble on him against Man United and he failed to deliver on a stage ripe for him to get into the goals.

He will have to take his cold meat counter ticket and wait in line until someone gets injured.

I think yesterday goes to show that Bellerin is below average and should be dropped and sold this summer. Having Cedric there, who can actually defend, gave pepe a lot more confidence to make his runs etc. decision making from pepe looked a bit better than usual.

Impressed with willian ( never thought i would say that ) and lacazette at one point holding off three players in the middle of the park retaining the ball for an attack. Our clever free kick was finished well by Luiz.

Looks like the crap that we have moaned about all season came good yesterday but i think its a little too late now.

He's not the first and won't be the last but nice of Kieran Tierney to fake a head injury to get Cancelo booked and play stopped.

Was always going to be the case once referees started to stop play for head injuries (which I agree with) but disappointed that a player I respect and think is very decent has to cheat like that.
He does seem to do that on the odd occasion, never followed him at Celtic so not sure if he used to do it there too or just picked it up in this league.

Needs to cut it out or else he'll be placed in the same bracket as Salah, Mane, Kane etc
Just spotted on Twitter that Tierney was at it again yesterday. Barged off the ball by a Leicester player (contact to his side) but goes down clutching his head, game stopped, physio comes on making sure he doesn't move his head etc etc..... shameful. He is a fantastic player and one of Arsenal's bright spots this season but this needs to stop as Radec said.

Yeah, I spotted that, not a fan of it but it was just time wasting at the end of the game. How many other players fall over with the minutest contact as if they’ve been steamrollered.

Yep, he needs to stop that - but, and two wrongs don't make a right, Jonny Evans did exactly the same thing in the first half when we had a promising attack and pressure on - nudge in the back, goes down holding his head and play was actually stopped with Tierney ready to release a shot (unlike the Tierney incident where the ball was already out of play).

Anyone here Silver Members, seems like no refund or discount just full £59 charge next season, but they're introducing a loyalty scheme (something about 10% off online store)... I await with interest to see if get stiffed in May on the £210 for being season ticket holder for the one match that made it to ballot (which they would have charged for the tickers)...and what price it will be with no European football at all.

I saw the email on Friday and was surprised that we were getting anything back to be honest. No idea what other clubs are doing but i was not expecting any concession.

Ah, fair point then Pete. I didn't see the game (was actually watching your Women's team at the time) so hadn't seen the Evans incident. Was just commenting following my previous post when he faked the injury after Cancelo's challenge.

Sadly, I think it's just the latest trick to con referees and by no means just an Arsenal thing, albeit that's the only two I've really seen.

Ah we had a choice with season tickets of £210 to be in the ballot for games or wait until next season, so had assumed Silver/ Red was the same.

We're getting a refund on the silver membership for next season that is the difference between us and red membership. I think. Just quickly scanned it.

Match report said:
But with plenty of time to set himself for the goal, Ozil fired wide of the post.

Ozil's night went from bad to worse following a challenge from Antalyaspor goalscorer Fredy. The 32-year-old appeared to go over his ankle and had to be taken off on a stretcher on 67 minutes, with Irfan Kahveci coming on to replace him.

Ozil is facing up to six weeks on the sidelines, according to reports, after suffering partial tears to his inner and outer lateral ankle ligaments.
He's still got it... to be fair I loved Ozil when he played but only really remember 1 or 2 tackles with menace against Citeh (we won) and high pressing game was never going to suit him. The episode with us felt like a replay of when he was at Real i.e. something in the heads goes, system change and he's not at the races, he's got a 3 year deal I wonder if it will repeat or if he can maintain his motivation for them and fitness given his age.

i don’t usually moan about VAR but i thought it was a penalty as the second time Peters controlled the ball with his left arm.

Telly said it was Denied due to proximity but i was surprised the linesman didn’t flag it.
