Spurs playing Thursday night football in the 3rd tier of UEFA! Result. Yes I would have loved to finish above them but swerving a Europa place is a result.

I am going to give PEA a bit of benefit of the doubt here - Malaria is a horrible disease and I really don't know the back story to how long it had been in his system and how long it takes to get out the other side? I imagine that it saps your energy and work rate would be tough. Anyone know?

Picked up on international duty, presume didn't follow usual precautions of medication that prevents acquiring malaria.

Treating malaria
If malaria is diagnosed and treated promptly, virtually everyone will make a full recovery. Treatment should be started as soon as the diagnosis has been confirmed.

...Treatment for malaria can leave you feeling very tired and weak for several weeks.

Exactly.
Not the attitude you should be expecting of someone that is/has been your captain. But don't get me started on giving him the armband in the first place!

There were question marks over his attitude at BD before he came to us, and I think we're seeing that he's not got the self discipline you'd certainly expect of a club captain, and further makes me wonder why he has ben given the armband in matches.

I wouldn't be bothered if the club offloaded him in the summer tbh. Keep Laca (top scorer for us this season in PL) and give Balogun more of a chance.

Agree with comments but PEA was bang average before he got malaria so what’s his excuse then? What a difference a year makes though. There was huge pressure to get him a new contract and when he signed it brought massive relief. 12 months or so down the line it’s flipped on it’s head. Like others I’d wouldn’t be bothered to see him go.

Interesting summer ahead and one I hope sees the scouting team pull it out of the bag but I’m not so sure. Some money has been there in the past but the scouts have delivered more transfer failures than successes in my opinion.

I maybe wrong, but sure I read that he had it before the recent international duty and it was undetected for a while?!

Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been treated in hospital after contracting malaria while on international duty with Gabon.

The 31-year-old scored in Gabon's 3-0 win over DR Congo in Africa Cup of Nations qualification on 25 March.

He played in Arsenal's Europa League quarter-final first leg against Slavia Prague on 8 April but missed Sunday's win over Sheffield United.

"I've spent a few days in hospital this week," he said on Instagram.

"I'm already feeling much better every day, thanks to the great doctors that detected and treated the [illness] so quickly.

"I wasn't really feeling myself the last couple weeks but will be back stronger than ever soon!"

Malaria is a tropical disease spread by mosquitoes. Symptoms usually appear seven to 18 days after infection, but it is not contagious.

b) the same
c) higher

I'm not an Arsenal fan but I thought I would give my views on Arsenal to show the Arsenal fans what a reasonable outsider thinks.

I think Tierney is a fantastic left back. If all the Arsenal players had his mentality then they would be top 4. He should be captain (Maybe he is - I don't know)

I really rated Partey before he went to Arsenal. He hasn't done as well as I thought he would. I guess he needs more time to adapt. I know Arsenal are linked to Bissouma who I also rate but they are quite similar (in my head) so I'm not sure how it would work.

I really like Martinelli, and I think with a run in the side he could be the permanent fixture as opposed to Aubameyang or the Lacazette. Aubameyand just hasn't been the same player since signing a contract but I think he has been played on the left and is better in the centre??

Arteta. I honestly think he was the cheap option, he tries to play Man City's way without their players. I'm not convinced he is the way forward. I think Lampard would do a better job (I'm expecting some flack for that one) or even Gerrard.

Arsenal TV (The one with Gus on Youtube). I do watch it only when Arsenal lose. Not to take the mick but because I feel the pain. As a supporter(elsewhere) myself I know exactly what the fans are going through. The same old players get told they are not good enough, the manager gets criticized for his team selection and substitutions etc etc.

I want to see Arsenal return to former glories. The Premiership/Europe is a better place with a strong Arsenal. I loved the whole Viera era. That's what I think of still when I think of Arsenal.

Since 1995/96 (20 instead of 22 teams in the PL) it has always been 19 home league games and 7 cup games (League cup, FA cup and Europe).
I think it was in 2000/01 season the cup game "tickets" excluded the League cup games as Wenger wasn't playing the majority of the main first 11.

My ST when we had Champions League games the price was £1349 (2015/16), then dropped into Europa League it was £1118.50 (last 5 seasons) and now no European games this season it cost £1078.50

GOSSIP-Xhaka off to Roma for £35m. I think he'd suit a set up that protects him and gives him time to distribute, it's when he is under pressure the panic appears to kick in and it goes pear shaped.

£35m? That has to be a typo, fraud or crack.

Even more amazed to see it’s Maureen after him. Bizarre. We’re already weak in midfield so if he goes too that must mean we’ve got multiple players coming in, with Ceballos and Ødegaard to replace too. I see Zidanes gone from Real so maybe with upheaval there we might stand more chance of holding on to Ødegaard.

To be honest, I think we have been searching for the next Viera since he left... There have been periods where we thought we have found them, remember Cocquilin being worldy for 3 months, but would love to be linked with Jude Bellingham - never going to happen though!
