Scotland defender Kieran Tierney, 25, has agreed a new five-year contract with Arsenal which he will sign in the coming days. (Football.London)

The impact will be one or a combination of the following:

a) a season ending injury as Scotland limp to a defeat in last group match
b) our "medical" team turn a season ending injury into a career ending injury
c) we are jacking up the price to sell him after the Euros
d) we are going to run with existing squad including recall of loaners (except the Greek guys), as we spent the kitty on Tierneys wages
e) he gets fed up carrying the entire squad an pulls an Ozil/ Aubamayang and goes full iron bru and haggis suppers bloating to epic proportions

Good news about Tierney signing a new contract, he's a great player.

In other news looks like we will be signing Ben White for £50m.
I don't think he's worth that at all but I've hardly seen him play so I'm not sure how good he is.

I didn't even think we needed a new CB especially one for £50m, I'm not sure what this means for Saliba, Holding, Gabriel, Mari.

I'm just hoping we aren't blowing our budget on players that we don't need and cheapening out on the players that we do need.

That £50m could be used to get us a Auoar, Camavinga, Lokongo, Bissouma, Isak, RB/LB.The positions we actually need to fill.

Although this does suggest we do have quite a bit transfer pot to use this summer, fingers crossed we spend it well.

Agreed on above. The direction here is, questionable? Who knows.

I suppose we should be positive.

90 mins rumoured a few weeks ago that Silent Stan had put up 250 mil for new feet. Not sure I quite believe that but hopefully there is plenty cash available.

Our problem last season was that we needed to play 2 defensive midfielders and 5 defenders to stem the tide.

It worked of course, our goals conceded record shows that but if the forwards are not firing....

we need to get the 3 centre-back partnership right and if we can do that, we don't need to play two defensive midfielders against relegation fodder.

if the gaffer wants to play that way all season, we need 3 great centre-backs and 3 decent ones. 6 in total.

if theres 6 spots up for grabs, theres plenty of room for the lads we already have.

Xhaka had a hell of a game tonight, why the hell can’t he do that in an Arsenal shirt mad

Most likely the system the manager implements. Clearly, there is something in Xhaka that made the club play £40m (?) for him originally, and that was on display tonight.

It is what it is, he’s on the way out no doubt and I’m sure he’ll tear up Serie A with Jose.

But he showed what he does for us. Without him in it our midfield tends to be even worse, who have we got coming in next to Partey, I wonder?

Most of the time he does put in good performances and some of these have been in big games.
However he does have a mistake in him and with some of our toxic fans they never let him hear the end of it.
I'm guessing we don't make the quick runs either that helps Xhaka to find you with a pass, although I have seen him make quite a few of those through balls over the years.

He was brilliant tonight, however France did let him have loads of time on the ball which he doesn't get in the PL.
With time on the ball Xhaka is a really good player, maybe he will be even more effective in Serie A with the way they play out there.

I’m not convinced he’s going, Arsenal are posting a lot of him on their social media channels and if a players off I can’t see that. Arteta made a huge effort to keep him after he told the crowd to F off, it just doesn’t make sense.

Exactly, given time and space Xhaka can spray passes all over the pitch, his best games were under Wenger (more attacking role) especially the FA cup final in 2017.
Under Emery and Arteta he plays a more defensive role, hopefully that display put an extra £5-10 mill on his transfer value.

He clearly doesn't want to stay, you only have to hear his comments in the pre-France match Swiss press conference the other day, when he was asked about his future.
When quizzed on his future plans, Xhaka said: “Arsenal know what I want to do".
"Football is a team sport and you’re only as good as your team,” said Xhaka.

He's supposedly already agreed personal terms with Roma, but AFC want £20m for him, and that appears to be more than Roma are willing to pay.
If Roma look elsewhere, we'll be left with a player than doesn't want to be at the club and thought he was leaving, and that's hardly going to help matters for next season.

I think Xhaka is one of those players who we as fans don’t really appreciate….every manager seems to play him every minute he’s available ! I suppose what we focus on are the howlers which there have been a lot of over the years. I think £20mil would be a fair price for him and would be good to move on….he’s deffo better suited to Italy/Spain then the PL.

All three of the youngsters were let down by Southgate and the more senior players. Rashford and Sancho had hardly touched the ball, and Saka just didn’t look confident at all. Those abusing him on social media need outing and making an example of.

+1 Southgate obviously did a great job overall, but he fked up with this, a real shame

Saka suddenly looked an inexperienced 19 year old when he was brought on as a sub, hopefully he will bounce straight back.

I'm not a member of the Southgate love-in I'm afraid, what we saw last night was the difference between a group of talented young players being managed by a Championship level coach (that has never won anything) up against an equally talented group of players managed by a much better coach that has a string of winners medals to him name as a coach.

I think Southgate has undoubtedly improved things but Mancini is on another level, other than our defence though, it was very much men against boys.

I watched in an italian bar. the italians were very confident once it went to penalties, they even played for them. Donnarumma is epic and they know it.

Especially once Chisea went off, they were very limited on their possibilities.

I am N Irish, living in Italy so I really dont give a monkies, but, you have to feel for our boy and wonder what the confidence bashing will do to him.....

Hopefully he's got a great team around him. He played so well up to last night, it would be a real shame to focus on that when there are so many positives to take from the tournament for him. I can't wait to see him play in the new season.

Yeah, I hope it doesn't mess with his head too much, which it might do being only 19.
Lets hope not, as he clearly has a bright future ahead of him on showing so far, and for me is a little bit more special, as the lad was born in the same part of London as me, and he even went to the same infant/junior school as me as well (just 40 odd years later laugh)

+1, overall he had a great tournament, got a couple of assists and kept out the likes of Rashford and Sancho for most of the tournament at the age of 19 when it looked like he would have limited mins before it started.

He can definitely come away with his head held high with the performances he put in.

Anyone abusing him or the others that missed on social media hopefully get their accounts suspended
