Asia’s got massive amounts to be proud of, I suspect the only reason he was picked to take a penalty because of how he is as a a person. To be honest I think he’s got a lot less to feel bad about than the two players who came on to take penalties both of whom failed in their task.
Southgate has been brilliant for England but not sure last night was his finest hour. Once the Italian’s sorted out the tactical issues Southgate’s selection/formation posed them there was only one team in it. Personally think we were short of at least one more creative player on that pitch….last night we only had one player in Sterling who is really going to worry a defence by beating a man with pace or guile in the final third. With seven of the 10 outfitted players main task was negating the opposition I think a more adventurous/attacking selection than Mount was required.

As soon as that early goal went in, that was us done, you could almost see Southgate's ultra cautious mind clinking into 'park the bus and defend a one goal lead for the next 88 mins mentallity'....and as you say, he got handed a lesson by a much better coach....as will no doubt happen again in the future.Southgate went for experience in the line-up to be fair, and picked those with the most experience with the highest scoring rate from the spot - I think looking at the data linked in the article below, most of us would have gone for Sancho and Rashford from the spot too - maybe we would have gone for Grealish instead of Saka, but it is hard to know the mental state of players at that point - so ultimately I am very proud our boy stood up to be counted and hope he is proud of the great tournament he had!

I had no problem whatsoever with Rashford and Sancho coming on for the pens (I'd have absolutely brought those two on in that situation), my only reservation was them coming on so late and therefore barely having a touch of the ball before the spot kicks- not to mention the added pressure that will have come from knowing they were brought on solely for that purpose. At least if they had come on with 10 mins to go they would have felt they'd had a chance at making an impact in extra time too which might have taken a little bit of the pressure off come the shootout.
I was also expecting Grealish to take one, although I can't say I've seen him take any in the Prem but just assumed with his technique and attitude that he'd be straight in there.
All credit to Saka stepping forward though.

We couldn’t even beat Hibs in last nights friendly so they need to do something with the creativity side of things, pronto or Artetas life is going to get very unpleasant quite rapidly with crowds back in the stadium,
sounds like another sound keeper in our ranks...not sure if we've mistakenly appointed a clown trainer rather than a goalkeeping one......and a nice easy set of fixtures to kick off with too... #prayforinternationalfatigueupontheopposition although I'm away for the Chelsea opener there is hope for us yet!

It's £65 same the non-official match day (read slim fit) shirts...and that would be banned in Italy, think I saw they're banning Green GK tops...
It’s one of those bizarre friday afternoon decisions that gets approved on the basis that it’s 3pm and everyone wants to get down to the pub but on Monday it’s so embarrassing they just decide to change it when nobody is looking. Cupramax said:
