Absolutely this. Listen to Man U fans..."the Glazers haven't put their hands in their pockets." They paid £80m for a full back, ffs. Walking out of Stamford Bridge, I hear sensible middle aged guys, many of whom probably work in business, saying "we need to buy Haaland, Kane and Neymar if we're going to compete".
I don't want fans running my club, because too many of them are utter morons.
Who?I don't want fans running my club, because too many of them are utter morons.

No, clubs want more money so they need more games. The Super Leaque setup did just that, it secured a fixed set of games for a fixed set of clubs.
Not too disimilar as the proposed CL setup from 2024 onwards by the way.
Besides It's the clubs themselves that formed the CL, it's the Real's and Bayerns that made the CL to what it is today. And now they (pretend to) blame UEFA. Reality of course is that they want full controll, more security and more money.
Yes but they want to play each other, not Shakhtar Donetsk or Dynamo Bucharest. Possibly make the round of 16 a group stage then. Not too disimilar as the proposed CL setup from 2024 onwards by the way.

Billed as an 'open competition' with no automatic members etc, but 2 up 2 down from the top 2 tiers (whilst 20 are relegated from the bottom tier) pretty much protects any so-called big club, they'd have to have an absolute stinker to drop out of the top tier.
Given the amount of teams that would be dropping in and out it would need full support from all domestic leagues, i.e. where do those teams slot back in to domestic competition it they get relegated from the Blue league?

They'd be playing this alongside domestic competition so there is no slotting back into domestic competition required. So a complete replacement of the Champions League etc?
Presumably no chance of them playing in domestic cups either, simply not enough free dates in the calendar.
Correct.Presumably no chance of them playing in domestic cups either, simply not enough free dates in the calendar.
And the new swiss model champions league was originally slated to have 10 group games; plus the 2-legged last 16 game will put you at 12 games played pre-QF. ESL is 14 "group games" before the QF. They'll find a way.

Not necessarily. It's not Uefa behind the super league.Maybe a watered down champions league.....and what about the other 2 European competitions?Presumably no chance of them playing in domestic cups either, simply not enough free dates in the calendar.
Something will have to give if it happens, this is just a proposal isn't it,lots of discussions to come I'd imagine
Will there be a limit to how many clubs from each country can participate?
If there is and a club from your country never gets relegated from the Blue league, how do you join?
What if you win your domestic league but all your nation's places are already taken?
What if all the teams relegated from the Blue league are from the same country - do they get replaced with teams from their own country?
If not, how do teams from other countries qualify to take their place?

Yeah it looks like a lot are coming out against it, which is good. Even my club (Man Utd) have said no change they are backing UEFA / PL , although I can expect they would change their minds if a lot went for it. Atletico Madrid also condemning it.
Seems just like the Spanish two and maybe some Italians at the moment really wanting it. Promising free viewing etc, as if people would fall for that.

Sure, it'll be free for a few seasons, then either the whole lot or home matches will become either PPV and geo blocked. Want to watch English clubs in the UK? Gotta pay. But you can watch Bayern play Dinamo Kiev or Inter play PSG, just not Liverpool vs Real Madrid. Seems just like the Spanish two and maybe some Italians at the moment really wanting it.
