Couple of things strike me.

1. Am I supposed to belive UEFA are the good guys? Yeah right.

2. Look at Spain in particular but it's relevant to all the main leagues. RM and Barca must generate 98% of La Liga's total income and they're the selfish ones? I doubt the other clubs in Spain would crow so hard if they disappeared.

Not sure what the answer is, giving the big clubs a fairer share of the revenue probably won't be good for football in the long term but I'd love to Ceferin and Co royally bummed.

It will happen. They will push for Saudi involvement and Saudi money will be funding it either direct, or indirect to make sure it happens.

The whole thing has nothing to do with Football and everything to do with money. The complicated aspect is that underpinning it all is some chancers trying to rob UEFA/FIFA which should be resisted on a point of principle, but at the same time UEFA and FIFA are also corrupt chancers running football to line their own pockets, so are really no different to these other chancers.

I wonder if the success of the Premier League and how that was set up is a better blueprint for European football. It's not sustainable for the clubs to simply move to a different competition because some randoms are promising to cream off less than UEFA, that just sets the precedent for the next chancers to come along and offer to cream off a bit less.

Surely the Clubs can see that they don't need to be subservient to any bunch of chancers and are best served by owning it themselves, like the Premier League.

High Horse FC doing the right thing for a change. Lest we forget they were one of the driving forces originally and escaped punishment, as they all did.

I don't know if I'm 'unusual' but I support an unfashionable team that is relatively successful (but has never won any silverware of note). Much like maybe 60 or 70 of the Premier League+ the EFL's clubs, there is negligible chance of my team ever competing in this European Super League, even if they ever allow promotion and relegation.

So I don't give a flying fk if the 'big six' want to go and play with their European chums because I only ever watch my team, week in week out. I never watch European football on TV and I rarely watch England play because they rarely involve my team's players.

I really don't care if the world's top players want to bleed the Sky Sports audience dry because I don't subscribe. All I care about is seeing my team win a match very occasionally, and maybe have a bit of a crack at one of the cups every fifth year or so (who knows, we might even win one if the big six have buggered off).

Happy Christmas.

I tend to agree, supporting a team that's been in all 4 divisions over the last 12 years that actually did quite well in Europe. I don't watch anything that's on Sky or whatever channel the CL is on these days. I would find it weird being a fan of those teams that would wish to play internationally as their main league. I suspect what would happen would be it went more like US sports where the college scene is bigger than the main professional scene (in terms of attendance/loyalty).

One thing that does make me chuckle is this notion of a top 4/6/8* they're never the same teams.

  • adjust according to your argument
Back in the pre-PL days when Spurs (Irving Scholar driven) wanted to create "premier league" the notional Top 6 had never actually finished in the top 6 together, ever.

Hopefully we can get rid of the tedious Hollywood Hype train and their really annoying fans (who probably had Everton Season Tickets till Deadpool showed up). The only down side, would be more BBC Sport articles about them. yuck
