I agree. I dont know what we do to CBs, but I think we could ruin anyone.
I think Phil Jones problem was the same as John O’Shea where he was seen as a versatile player and could be used in a number of different roles, that meant that he was never really seen as a specialist in any area so would always be behind the main player in any position. The fact he also appears to have had has bones, ligaments and tendons replaced by glass and string hasn’t helped him either. ORD said:

For all his critics Maguire snuffed out the expensive city line up with his pal Lindy. Jones has won more trophies than Tottenham :-) but unfortunately never really progressed and was quite injury prone. We are slowly moving on from the remnants of the Fergie era and I wish him all the best to be fair to the lad.

Did he, though? They had enough chances to get plenty of goals. They misfired upfront. I'll take that without complaint

Sterling missed the ball completely from about four yards ... but then he does that regularly. Between gritted teeth I have to admit your team played very well on the day. That Jesus tackle in the first minute was daft though ...
Yes the penalty shaped the game ,I thought Sterling missed because the pass was sort of behind him .franki68 said:
Yes ,it’s a Good job our forwards never miss clear cut chances .
If I can get away with this without being accused of being a moaner, I think Greenwood and Martial are good finishers, but I am far from persuaded on Rashford (often fails to shoot at all) or Cavani (most air shots I have ever seen). trowelhead said:
Luke shaw is a god! Who guessed he would kick on to become one of our best players.
I'd say hes right there with bruno.
Looking forward to seeing more of henderson.
Why is it that maguire/lindelof can play a high line in that game yet in others we get exposed?
Citeh never had any runners really ... they prefer to play 700 passes across and back like a lot of the better teams. God, it’s dull to watch, though at times. Played at lightning speed, it’s great but I see so many games where at the merest hint of danger the ball is played back 30 yards. Sometimes, with a swivel-of-the-hips dummy, you could take three players out of the game ... but you rarely see it. Safety first ...I'd say hes right there with bruno.

There’s a lovely article on Shaw in the times today. He really has returned to the form just pre leg break. If not better.,

This playing around at the back,I have never see so many st goals conceded because teams try to pass it out from the back ,and they simply cannot. The idea is to suck players out of position but its nonsense if you then don't move the ball forward quickly or are not very good at passing.United are especially infuriating at this.Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
