Agreed, players just generally won't take another player on, they just pass it. Often there's a big gap to run into but no, pass and repeat.

Shaws goal was a classic example of it working but completely by accident as opposed to design as even I have to agree we are dreadful and my heart is in my mouth every time we do it, for the goal on Sunday Henderson was forced to throw to Shaw as all the short pass options had been picked up. He was then brilliant but there’s no way that was rehearsed but it bloody should be from now on. It immediately plays to our strengths but would a lesser team press so high?

Henderson deserves a spell now.

And you know what if City lose a couple of games we’ve still no chance of winning the league! At least we’ve a timely reminder of what we can do if we get them in the cup.

2nd, Europa League and Fa cup? That’d would be a very very good season. I do hope we kick on after that win on Sunday. We appear to have learnt how to keep goals out but if we are winning anything this season we need to start scoring. There’s a shape to this team now. The run of nil nils has now ended, Pep was praised for his 0 0 at OT, if and it’s still a big if we put a run together now we’ve a chance of silverware.

City will be monstrous from now on.

Completely agree and the trophy haul needs to be reality, not just aspiration, especially the FA Cup. There is a real risk that there’s a quadruple on for them this season and the nightmare scenario of them and the Scousers contesting the CL Final as it’s a poor competition this year.

I swear when porto got that free kick,I said to my youngest 'ronaldo will duck and the ball will fly in over him ' ..not 100% accurate but damn close,what he did was worse .Best game I have seen for a while ,Porto were still taking it to them with ten men.

Just read this and it doesn’t make the overall structure clear. Is the new Football Director Ole’s boss or someone on the same level or underneath him. It seems very focussed on the Academy and youth set up rather than 1st team matters. Ditto Darren Fletcher’s role seems to report to the Football Director but again focussed on youth set up.

It for the youth set up this. Apparently there’s another announcement in the future for someone in between Ole and Ed.....

I may have been wrong about that as Matt Judge has also had a slight change. He does the first team recruitment negotiating.

Either way it’s someone with a couple of years within United and a st load of external experience alongside Fletcher, who has always struck me as a very intelligent individual and also bleeds United.

I guess the main thing I’m interested in is the management structure within the club now and who sits where and reports to who. If these are just fancy titles for made up roles it seems a waste, I’m just not seeing what the point of these are. What does Matt Judge negotiate? I thought Woodward was the king of cocking up negotiations for new players.

That’s the popular myth, it’s matt judge and has been for years, Ed just does the photos.

Sadly I’m sceptical aswell. Fletcher isn’t a yes man and Murtough is very good but that structure really hasn’t changed, they will not be above Ole in the current hierarchy.

I get the Fletcher and Murtough move but the same old problem exists with Matt Judge. I also wonder what happening with Nicky Butt, there’s a lot lot of overlap with him and Fletcher at first glance. It’ll be immediately obvious to fans it’s not a dramatic change but what been happening recently has improved on the ste under LVG and Jose.

They have rejuvenated the youth set up,the youth set up was miles behind city and Chelsea ,the best kids were going there .
