The fact we score so many goals helps cover any defensive woes :-)

Congratulations. It’s been fantastic (as a neutral) to watch him play this season.

It’s a tribute to the medical staff too that they’ve got him and kept him fit. IIRC his last couple of years for PSG were injury plagued.

Yep, and it can just be perception that other team's defences are better than ours and don't make mistakes. They do and are mostly worse than us.

Excellent news on Cavani

I disagree on CBs. I think ours would struggle to get into most decent PL sides.

To be fair you've written off every player and the manager on more than one occasion lol

Dias & Van Dijk aside, who's a better centre back than Maguire in the Prem?

Bailly gets my vote ahead of HM. Can’t think of any other better although personally I do like Mings.

It's such a stupid statement it's not really worth analysing

The CB pairing of the 2nd placed team in the PL, Europa League finalists and 3rd stingiest defence in the league, wouldn't get into Arsenal, Everton, West Ham, Spurs

It's pointless

Woohoo (for me anyway), I’m back. I’ve had a lovely all expenses paid trip to the sin bin for daring to suggest that the actions of those at the United v Liverpool match could split the opinion against the Glazers. I think that others on here share my view on that based on recent comments. What’s interesting is that the lost £200m in sponsorship would have arguably been enough to buy 2 of Haaland, Sancho and Kane. That’s shortsightedness at its finest.

Current position, I’m eating humble pie. Our league position is beyond my wildest dreams. I’m really pleased to see Greenwood find his scoring boots again, as I was a little worried about that. Pogba has been superb, but still worried about his agent and the circus that comes with that.

Now the controversial bit. I can see why ORDis worried about our defence. The numbers say one thing, but I crap myself every time we either try to play it out from the back, or Maguire tries to impersonate Pele when on the ball. I don’t think Maguire or Lindelof are bad defenders, I just think they’re too similar. We need a solid rock and a quick player in the centre and at the moment our pairing isn’t that. Pairing either with a (fit) Bailly or Tuanzebe would be an interesting option for me.

Either way, two big games in a couple of days. I’d like Leicester to make CL next season and Liverpool fail for obvious reasons, although that would give Liverpool a PL advantage. If we beat / draw with Leicester tomorrow, then I want to see us go for it and do the same against Liverpool.

I think they would benefit from someone with pace. Bailly has signed a new deal, but just can’t keep himself fit. Haven’t seen enough of Tuanzebe to see if he would make it.

I don't disagree with any of that, I think we could (and maybe need to) improve on one of them to have a proper tilt at the league

I do think midfield and RW will (and should) get the attention this summer

Thought you’d been quiet. I don’t agree on the shortsightedness as the sponsorship loss finally demonstrates to the glazers that the fans can no longer be ignored. Yes it’ll hurt the balance sheet in the short term but if we see real change next season then it’s worked. Woodward going is a start.

Ole’s done an incredible job recently got the best out of cavani now he’s fit and he isn’t half having an impact on mason.

If you do an audit of the players I have said aren’t good enough, I think I’ve done OK: Sanchez, Fred, De Gea, Martial and Lingard. All gone or soon going.

I was very wrong on Shaw. He’s become absolutely brilliant and proven me wrong.

I am trying to be less quick to judge. All the evidence so far is that DVB is atrocious, but I’m giving him time.

DVB can't possibly be atrocious. He's not been given regular starts and has zero confidence. You can see he is terrified and isn't expressing himself. If he doesn't work out so be it but it's daft labelling players as you do. Shaw as you rightly said has turned into one of our better players given appropriate time and support.
