Watching the NL game last night, Memphis was looking good, am I’m thinking “why did Utd let him go?”
Then he missed an open goal …..
Yes, didn't look like he had improved to me.Then he missed an open goal …..
Watching him just underlined the frustrations I had with his play when he was with us.
Similar to Anthony Martial.
Good to see Blind doing OK.
When he went to Lyon he got more a free role and it allowed him to become a much better player. That's why potentially he will be going to one of the big clubs like Barca etc.
He did look more mature and I've not seen him play for ages so can't comment other than what I saw yesterday.
As I say, certain players I find frustrating to watch like Martial and Memphis and to a degree Nani.
Having said that, I would choose Nani over either of the other two.
If there’s a glimmer of a chance of swapping Pogba for Ronaldo this summer I’d be tearing arms off. Premier League is to fast for :Pogba to truly excel.
A second year of working with Cavani and then the example of at least a season with Ronaldo and Greenwood should be ready to lead the line. Ronaldo is moving passed Messi for me now. He is an absolute goal machine. And he’s done it on a wet night in Stoke.

I'd have him in a flash but alongside Pogba !!A second year of working with Cavani and then the example of at least a season with Ronaldo and Greenwood should be ready to lead the line. Portugal are getting stuffed as I type - not relevant really but just saying

For 2 years we apparently have been after Rice, why? I have tried to pay attention to him when he is in games I have watched, but he is anonymous in every single game,am I missing something ? Maybe some hammers fans can enlighten me as to what he actually doe on the pitch.
I was thinking the same after the first two games. I was wondering if he is one of those players that does his work without making headlines, but apart from pass the ball sideways im struggling. No doubt he does alot more for West Ham.

On the occasions I have watched west ham, I cannot recall him being on the pitch although he was.No doubt he does alot more for West Ham.
I feel like I am missing something obvious as they talk about him being a 100m player .

At PSV he was a huge talent. His performance there was impressive judged on and compared with other great forwards that played in the Eredivisie before making a move to Italy, Spain or England. And over these past decades we have a lot of players to compare him with.
So his performance at United was dissapointing and unexpected, yet inconclusive at the same time. At Lyon he seems to have matured, which is also reflected in the fact that he is the captain there.
The English newspapers/pundits/etc. tend to judge players and coaches on what happens in the EPL. It's seems to be the only thing they see.
Another recent example is Blind. After the first game of the NL's in the Euro's the English pundits (and newspapers) on the BBC criticized F.de Boer (the so called "worst manager ever in the EPL" according to a busdriver) for changing Blind after 60 min. when the NL's were 2-0 up. Blind was even upset because of it, they said.
Reality is that Blind was injured for more than 2 months with an ankle injury, this was his first game since late march. And Blind was actualy upset because of the Eriksen situation and his own hart related issues, as he explained in the interview after the game.
Moral of the story; England often doesn't seem to have a clue what happens outside the EPL.

Just make sure that Mr.Southgate puts his 2 best players on the sheet first; H.Kane and M.Rashford.
And that he makes sure that his 2 best players get the best service possible, whatever it takes. Because that's what England lacks mostly; creativity in midfield.
And tell him that his overrated 80m.pound central defender, called H.Maguire, sucks at anything related to football, in every measurable way. So that he at least get's the support needed at getting the ball forward.
