Can’t be arsed with the England /Euro thread bit how do we feel
about it all?
Throughly deserve to be in the final but hated the dive that helped us get there. Never ever a penalty, but then I remember the Hand of God,Simeone with Becks and Lampards non goal, so maybe it’s our time. You could also say the decision for the Danes free kick was soft, and having to win their third group game their first goal came from a corner that wasn’t.
The excitable Pickford had been calm til last night, had a couple of freak out moments but that free kick was unstoppable at that pace on the wall side.
Rice other than a 15 minute period at the start of the Germany has been utterly brilliant all tournament.Philips seems to have grown in stature, Stones seems to be the perfect foil for Maguire, Sterling and Kane are becoming Son and Kane. The end of extra time last night where we kept the ball for 52 passes was something I never thought I’d see our national team do.
I’ll always love my club more than the national team, couple that with the dive and maybe that’s why I don’t feel quite as excited as I should do today….
Very much this.
I`ve been effing busy peddling booze from behind the cricket club bar.

These events are a free hit for clubs like us, stick a big screen up, fill the cellar with beer and the cash rolls in. We`re several grand up and counting.

The result goes our way Sunday and it will be an all nighter, I`ll be taking my LeMans camping gear to crash at the club.

Finally we appear to have got things right at a tournament - play your best football at the business end not at the start.
Honestly never thought I`d see England get to a major final and can`t quite believe it`s happening TBH.

Rice has been rock solid and has the chance to put his name alongside those we know so well from all those years ago.

Go to it young man, now`s the time, now is the time.
Good to hear your CC ( and all our local pubs) coining it in at long last . I’m having a few days down in Royal Tunbridge Wells…and I’ve just remembered I played at their beautiful ground way back in 1992 ! …. (Thought I was gonna post a beautiful pic but it’s been pissing down !).

Rice has been brilliant, I do laugh when fans say him and Phillips are no good for the team - we are in a final for a reason and thats down to that spine, Southgate has kept the spine and rotated around that. Pickford/Maguire/Rice/Phillips/Kane. Played with fullbacks and attacking midfielders but that group are all shoo-ins. I also got fed up with the vitriol on the England threads, people moaning about the penalty, FFS how many crap decisions have we had to put up with over the years. Its just great to wake up on a Thursday this week and everywhere I went people in a good mood, such a brilliant thing happening.

For me the final is a bonus, what I am excited about is whats to come. The amount of players who arent even near their prime yet - its great to have such squad depth.

Came back from 2-0 down biggrin

Squad's paper thin & appears Anderson's likely to be off.

Shame in a way. He’s very talented but didn’t seem committed. Probably a good move for him and us.

Paper thin squad gets thinner.

Ignoring keepers & taking into account the players resting after International duty and injuries; currently we have nine of the Club's first team available for pre-season.

Not surprised that Anderson's going, never seemed a Moyes type player; probably our worst ever signing given his lack of impact vs cost.

I would disagree on Anderson, first season he played really well, was always in amongst the goals and assists (something like 10 goals and 10 assists) and was being praised, but he declined along with the team the season after and Moyes just doesn't rate him so wont play him. Yes he looked like he couldnt be bother a few seasons in, but sometimes that happens. And I would do simple maths like he cost X so we lost Y, most big transfers are financed nowadays and if he doesnt complete his contract I wouldnt be surprised if there are complications in there around how much we finally pay the club for him.

Still we are now desperately short, we are low on money and I do seriously think Rice will go to fund a rebuild.

I have read that personal terms are agreed with Areola the PSG reserve keeper on loan which we would desperately need, I hope there is an option to buy in this one though!

It's not that even that long ago but I can only remember watching him score one decent goal - vs Wigan (I think) where there was lots of cocking about in the box & no one able to finish; he managed to clip the ball over the whole shower to score a peach.

10 total league goals in 63 appearances, v. similar stats to Yarma's (7 in 47).

Di Canio vibes - looks much better there than in "leaked" images, funny how worked up people have been getting on SM over the time it's taken for the shirt to be released. .

Last one I bought was the final UP Season away shirt. Might get one of these w/ Noble's name and number to stick in a box for posterity.

Christ, that is pretty bad tbf but I guess they have to alternate the main part of the shirt each season so people feel compelled to buy it!

That Villa shirt's grim, but I much prefer their sponsor to ours (despite the annoying ads).

Burnley's last kit was Umbro so presumably they'll slap a different sponsor and their 8-Bit logo onto ours and it'll be good to go biggrin
