I don't know if it is "allowed" to support two teams in the same division, but I'm going to love watching Bees in the premier league. I hope they have a cracking season and continue to stuff big teams.

Calm down Bees. Arsenal at home is the dream start for a newly promoted club. Far tougher tests lie ahead.

Congrats, you were a lot better than us with the ball when you had it and you played some really good stuff.

All the best for the season.

The young lad was cringing that he'd been caught on camera near it as well. Probably imaging his mates reaction.

Hilarious eh, I'm sure the person who did it is more than happy with the result tonight and couldn't care less rofl
Been going to Brentford since I was a kid, sometimes we'd pay but usually we'd go in at half time for free when they opened the gates wink
So pleased for all the Bees fans to see them in the top flight and a win under the belt on day one - well done.

Full disclaimer (and expecting a kicking) - I can't stand football. Pretty much my least favourite sport, and pretty much always has been.

But. My old man adored Brentford (he grew up there, I grew up just down the road in Isleworth). So, I loved going with him to games. Am I right in thinking Griffin Park was the only stadium with a pub on all four corners? For some reason, that's stuck in my brain for probably 35 years!

I've moved away, years ago. Brothers are both still in Town, and both Bees (and football) mad.

Cannot fking wait to go up for a weekend to watch them play. Was genuinely surprised at my automatic response when I saw they'd been promoted. Got me in the feels!

The Arse haven't been a big team for quite a while other than in their own minds!

Correct.
The Griffin (Fullers Pub smile) in the SW corner
Princess Royal in the SE corner
The New Inn in the NE corner
The Brook in the NW corner

Thanks for refreshing my memory, it was 50 years ago when I grew up in Ealing and we'd go to Brentford. I don't think i've been in The Brook, that's why I forgot it

My Dad's family moved down to Brentford from Preston, just before the war started, having come over from Ireland a few years before that, and they lived somewhere just off Windmill Rd just to the west of Griffin Park, which is how he became a Bees fan for the rest of his life. They were bombed out though in 1941, and once back in the 80's when we went to a Bee's match, we parked the car outside a 50's block of flats, and Dad casually mentioned as we got out the car, that was where his house had been when they moved to Brentford!

Impressive start. Wouldn’t bet against them finishing above Arsenal .

Been reading up on the story of little Woody, the non-verbal Down's Syndrome lad that Thomas Frank went over to see after the game on Friday.

Heart surgery aged six, turned away from his local football team, thanks to social media Brentford heard about him and now he's a little celebrity in his own right. Absolutely fantastic the way the Bees players & staff treated him on Friday night, great little video on Twitter doing the rounds of the players coming over to him.

Woody sits just along from us, him and his mum are very special people. The picture of Frank going up to him after the Arsenal game is amazing.
