Very deserving call up I know hes one of our players, but will certainly help England in defence as well if Maguire is playing!

Certainly was - and I feel teams are doing what we did last year - high press, pressurise the other team into mistakes.

We have looked flat, lost the energy a bit (like when we went through the bad spell last season).

We seem to have stopped pressurising teams.

Few key games after the chelsea game I feel, wolves and nots forest we need points from. Especially as we have played more games than some teams below us.

Excellent bounce back result last night against a team that's been playing good football.

8th penalty in a row for Toney means now only two other players have ever scored more consecutive penalties in the PL, Dimitar Berbatov on 9 and Yaya Toure with 11.

Ivan's first goal was unreal, had to watch the replay on the screens to believe what he done. First game under the lights and it didn't disappoint. Roll on wed against Chelsea, can't wait

So villa next - was kind of hoping gerard would still be in charge.

See frank is linked, he won't go - or imho would be made to go. Bigger club, but no way as set up as we are.

I hope he doesn't go either.....

Villa have already poached one Bees manager, let them go and poach one from another club instead...(although you could understand why Smith left given it was the club he had supported growing up, who's going to ever turn that down)

I can't see Tuchal or Poch going there either.

I don't think frank will go, I can't see it tbh.

How many managers have left brentford and then not done well, Rosler, warburton etc all haven't done anything since brentford.

Money would be good for frank, and I know he won't be at the bees forever, but I don't think he would leave now to go to villa.

I don't think he's the right cultural fit for Villa. Brentford is a well run friendly club that anyone can feel welcome at. Villa is awful.

As I speculated above, press reports today are saying both Poch & Tuchel have said they are not interested in the Villa job.

Just got to keep fingers crossed that Frank turns them down as well.

I'm surprised they already gone for Dyche.

Part of the cunning plan to keep him.

Two huge games up next, in Wolves and Forest given last game before the WC break is at the Ethiad, and our away form is hopeless this season.
We've got to stop loosing points to teams below us, and despite our away form, a loss to Forest away and only a draw with Wolves would see us hovering just above the relegation zone come start of the WC break, or even in it.

We need a min of 4 points from those two games, preferably all 6 to keep a bit of a points barrier between us and the relegation zone, as there's now just 3 points between us in 10th and West Ham in 17th and only 5 points between us and Forest at the bottom.

I do fear for our season if we don't pick up points in the next two games. We seem to do well against the "bigger" clubs and then do a typical brentford and loose to teams below us.

Lets be honest the next two games are big, might as well write off the man city game as won't get anything from that.

Just looked a bit shaky in defence, we did well against chelsea in closing them down, if we don't play this way we seem to loose.

Hopefully with not too many players at the world cup we can re group over the winter, and have our players nicely refreshed to push on come end of december / jan due to the number of games in a small space of time.

While its fair to say about writing off the points, we need to be wary of shipping too many goals in that match given we shipped 4 to Villa ffs..........a huge goal mauling by Haaland and Co, could be mean a huge GD to deal with if we get into a relegation battle.

Based on our current away from home performances - not looking forward to forest or Man City currently!

Indeed.

Not getting a win against Wolves at home could be very costly, and pretty much means we have to get a win away against Forest, but I'm not hopeful of that given our away form. A point is absolute minimum needed, but if we loose, then as I said before, we'll likely be staring down the relegation zone barrel come the WC break.

I suspect that's where we would have been last year from January onwards had we not signed Eriksen on a free.

I suspect the relegation battle this year will be a close fight between about 5 or 6 teams.....and I'm afraid on current form, the Bees will be one of those.
