I mean, it's not as though he needs the money is it?
He might well need it, depending on how much he's loosing every week.

You only have to read about what happened to Stan Bowles because of a similar gambling addiction.

Given his behaviour, concealing his betting activities and lying when questioned, he’s lucky to have gotten off as lightly as he did. In many other jobs he’d have been sacked for gross misconduct addiction or not.
On the flipside, banned with no rehibilatition, education, training etc, literally just cast aside for 4 months. All the while the FA, Prem and pretty much every club ultimately benefit extremely handsomely from the betting industry.

How you can reduce a ban based on a diagnosed addiction, then effectively stop his employer from supporting him through that.

I didn’t realise they weren’t allowed to support him, just no training or playing?

I agree the whole gambling and football thing is hugely hypocritical, but that’s another question altogether.

The fact is he knew it as wrong, tried to hide it and lied about it when questioned. For me it’s his conduct after being caught that removes sympathy. Back to my point, if people in lots of jobs broke similar rules, and lied about it, take financial services for instance (say around trading where legal but where there is an appearance of a conflict of interest) they’d be out on their arse and unemployable ever again in the industry.

Seems Spurs are leading the race for David Raya.

I know money will be more, but going from one of the best run clubs in the PL to one of the worst is hardly a step up......he's not like he's likely to win anything there is he.

I know spurs have been linked, but I am not sure he will go.

I would say the 40 million we want will more than likely be about 20 million plus add ons I think.

So new season underway, and 1 point in the bag.

Failry even game from what saw of it, lacked a bit of finishing from us. Maddison played well against us again - even with Leicester last year he did well against us.

Not sure if the game shows how far we have come, or how far spurs have fallen.

Think it shows how far Spurs have fallen, they were only 1 point above Brentford last season. Both teams missing their England internationals though.

But if you take Kane's 30 goals off Spurs last season and they're probably 3-10 points off the relegation battle.

I'd of liked to have seen a more marquee signing at Brentford. Could we have been in for JWP? Milner for some steel? Lingard even?

Then again it's not the way we do things. Shrewd business, and youngsters. Just always wonder if a name could do some good and give some buoyancy.

Funnily enough I was thinking the same about JWP - would of been a good signing, but I guess with Toney out till January (and a possible move then if you believe the media), maybe with our set pieces etc they decided against it. I actually think it would of been a good signing, but I guess other clubs will offer higher wages than us, and does go against buy young, sell later.

I do hope Schade becomes good, he really does need a goal I feel.

bright start to the season, Schade got his first goal too. If Toney is to go for £80 milllion, thats a nice pick up for us.

I do think however a few clubs will be after our players come January, my daughter will be devestated if Hickey leaves, glad Henry didn't get the move to Man Utd as reported several times, think he is better off with us.

Big match tomorrow after Newcastle loss, need to comfortably beat a miserable Everton side at home.

These are the games that are important, losing to Newcastle disappointing but won't determinethe season. I suspect it will be a solid win against a very poor side.

Never underestimate a team that's desperate.

I was going to comment on your post at lunchtime and agree with you, but this is football nothing surprises me anymore. Just hope we kick on now it’s just the one thing we needed a good win away from home against good opposition.

Getting nervous about our fall in form and slide down the table.

On current past 5 game form, we are 3rd worst in the league, with only 3 pts from poss 15.

Only Bournemouth with 2 pts from 15 and Sheffield with just 1 from 15 are worse.

Only takes a win from either of these in next few weeks, or a few draws, and we could ominously close to being in a relegation battle before too long, if no improvement in form, especially as we not beating the teams around us, and not looking like beating the teams in the top half of the table, unlike last season.
