The statement issued by the Super League is disappointing.

Strange times.

I enjoyed all of Gary Neville's passionate rant earlier on and agreed with every word. Linked below in case anyone missed it. Never thought I'd find myself agreeing with him quite so many times...

Well it’s been a great 30 years. At least I got to see a league title lifted. Just need to decide on a new club, down to 4 possibilities; forest green rovers, Tranmere, reading and Carlisle.

If this becomes a reality, I will be removing the Liverpool sticker from the car.

The statement: https://twitter.com/danroan/status/138390971086936...

I wonder how quickly we're all going to get kicked out of the PL? Should make for an interesting game tomorrow night now!

No good can come of this at this stage. Either it goes ahead and ends up being a stshow, or the clubs involved have to back down, in which case I can imagine there will be some pretty severe consequences!

We've (officially) left the ECA (as have the other 11 clubs), which according to the The Anfield Talk on Twitter means we cannot play in any UEFA competition again.

Our game against Real Madrid last week was our last ever Champions League game!

No chance of making it 7 definitely means the liver bird and 6 stars will be removed in the morning.

So, amongst all the negativity, I wonder what this looks like for us.

No more FA Cup or League Cup I bet which Im not fussed. Neither are what they used to be.

No more Champs League, which being what it is, weve gone through previous iterations, so this feels like another change which weve had before.

Means no more romantic-but-painful trips to lowly East European group stage games to have a 0-0 or knocked out 0-1 on aggregate in the last 16.

Instead every game is high level and we'll get more of the Man U Liverpool matches etc that lets be honest, we really enjoy, and we will get massively increased revenues which, yeah they'll make our owners rich but I'm thinking we'll get a much more secure future. As 'honest' as it was, remember the 8th in the PL, playing Europa League and singing the likes of PFK isn't exactly somewhere I want to go back to.

However I totally respect the sentiments of those who hate this. And understand it.

We don’t need massively increased revenues, that benefits no one apart from the owners and players/agents

Sod that.

I’d much rather win less but have a competitive league where I worry about and want to celebrate beating Burnley and WBA as well as the “big clubs”.

Maybe the club won’t care but I won’t pay to watch the games and won’t buy a shirt every other season to play in on a Saturday morning.

It sucks balls and I fking hate it

You would still get to celebrate beating WBA and Burnley as the PL continues.

I would think the sizeable change is the more the impact to CL and the Cups.

Meh, can't say I'm that bothered. Still love the club, always will.

People fear change, all this talk of taking the Liver Bird and 6 stars off the shirt is a quite hilarious overreaction.

There's no need for those of you leaving us to announce your departure.

I can’t see how you can love the club and not be dead against this. It won’t stop here. I bet the end goal is a franchise system like the NFL and NBA where they can just pick up the team and move. We also won’t be playing domestic football, the FA and premier league have made that clear. So it is super league and that is it.

Those big games will be far less special if they're happening all the time. And they'll be a bit meaningless if you don't have the risk of being dumped out by a minnow club, for whom it makes a huge difference and will be remembered by their fans on their deathbeds sort of results.

I think if we do play badly then we should be back to Europa League or non-European football if we don't deserve it by being good enough.

And unless people make their voices hear the owners will ignore it. Only way is to talk about it, and stop giving them money. The issue is it's a bit harder now - no chance to boycott the games due to corona, and even if you stop watching games on TV it's only the TV companies that might feel it until it comes to time to renegotiate... by which time this will all have worked out anyway.

I am not sure they will happen all the time and there'll be enough teams to feel the rotation. For instance, let's say 3 matches in a row consist of Atletico, Inter and then Spurs. That feels a lot more to look forward to than Norwich in the FA Cup, then Lyon in the CL group stage followed by WBA in the League Cup.

Football is about open competition. And jeopardy. Repeated games against the same European teams are utterly pointless when it doesn't matter who wins and who loses, and no-one is in danger of leaving or joining. I want to see us play games against whoever it might be, who got there on merit.

Despite all the rumblings I didn't see this actually happening. Not sure I still can to be honest despite recent goings on. Its a seismic shift, I just don't know what to think about it.
