Forest our new Bournemouth?

Seems like they want to sign Neco Williams, just days after handing over nearly 2m for an "ex-player", who never even played for us.

Solanke at £19m may yet turn out to be a good deal. He scored 29 last season, if he can replicate some of that form this season then I wouldn't be surprised if a big club comes back in for him. He's still only 24.
From our point of view, it was and still is great business. Even if Solanke does turn out to be a gem and can convert his championship form to the PL next season, it will have taken him at least 3 seasons to have done so. We could have never have waited that long. 19m for someone who bagged I think just 1 goal for Liverpool was great business. I hope he does well in the PL next season.

Wish him all the best. Never let us down and was vital in our two trophies last year. A good player.

Indeed, a good player. But if we are being honest, not the player to take us to the next level. We need more solid quality within the squad in general.

So Origi, Mane and Taki gone. Diaz and Nunez in. A lot more will be expected of Elliott I think next season.

Just watched the hendo document.

That quote from Klopp at the end

"The greatest thing is that when we bump into each other in 10 or 20 years time we will be overwhelmed with a massive smile on our face because we know we achieved something phenomenal together"
Klopp is the human face of a machine.

Analyse everything.

Then go again.

Same goes for Curtis if we don't buy a midfielder this summer.

That's quite some rise and fall for Woodburn.

Unless he turns that around there's a cautionary tale for other young prospects.

Agree on Eliott, make or break next season.

Make or break for Curtis more, I would think - Elliott is a couple of seasons behind Curtis though. He'll be expected to crack on though, for sure.

TBH I don't think Curtis has what it takes to push on that last 5%.

He's in the Harry Wilson and Ryan Kent camp for me.

Ryan Baldi wrote a good book about young players expected to make it but didn't, for different reasons, The Next Big Thing. Worth picking up. Injuries stunting development, attitude, just plain bad luck - many different factors, same outcome.

I agree he seemed to show promise and then not quite go on and do more last season. I guess this season we'll see what he's made of but you may well be right.

For some of them it's akin to leaving a winning lottery ticket in your jeans pocket and sticking them in the washer.

He was looking like a great prospect before his injury. Hopefully he can forget about that and get his sharpness back (some of that must definitely be mental). If he kicks on he could be excellent over the next few years - and naturally end up as 1st choice at the right time, as others age.

That comes across at times. For others, they just couldn't imagine a life of training and football and doing what it takes to be at that top level year on year, so left it behind.

Really hope Elliot picks back up to how he was playing before his ankle got crunched, as still feel we are light in midfield.

Really don't think Curtis will make it but hope I am wrong.

It's not just that - very few youth players break through in big clubs, as they're always buying a nearly finished product, to be able to compete. It's very hard to get the game time to really break through, as those mistakes which are learning experiences may well cost your team the league. In general if they want to break through they need to go elsewhere and get the game time to prove themselves before they're too old.

Yea, Trent only got opportunities because we had no one else.

For all we know Neco Williams could be the next Trent, but he won't become world class at Liverpool because he won't get many opportunities with Trent being our first choice.

I would say the best they can hope for is to impress in the domestic cups, but then Taki and Origi did as well as you could hope for in those competitions and they were still some way below our first team options.

The upcoming season could be a season where we might see a little bit more of inconsistency in our game. We've been used to winning so many games over the last few years (apart from the season before last though our run at the end of it was very consistent). Gone are all the those years prior to Klopp where we'd beat Arsenal 3-0 and then lose to Hull the next game.

With the perhaps this being biggest evolution of our squad to date under Klopp and the number of youngsters coming in, we should probably expect a few more inconsistent results whilst they adapt and learn. Elliott, Nunez, Carvalho, Ramsey etc. Whilst our core team still remains, those youngsters will get a run out in the PL in some form even if initially limited... we've seen at times when Elliott or Curtis have played how inconsistent some of their performances have been. If we pick up injuries they'll be more heavily relied upon. Losing Mane of course will of course be the biggest hole and we shouldn't expect Nunez to fill that void immediately.
