I see the thread of envy is also the thread of thickos.

Whilst Pommy’s numbers may, or may not be completely accurate, the principle is correct… The 2 biggest outgoings for a club are transfers and wages. If you’re net neutral (give or take) on both of these at the end of the transfer window, and you already have a stable financial base, you’re unlikely to put future finances under pressure.

It’s not rocket science…. But it’s clearly beyond their level of comprehension.

The FSG OUT brigade are unusually quiet on social media. They’ll be whinging about a midfielder before long, but this is a good move by the club. He’ll be back to the Mo we know and love from day 1 of the new season.
I’d like to see Bobby get a contract extension, I’d start him before Jota even on a bad day. He does so much unseen work.
What a daft comment. Just because someone think’s our midfield isn’t strong enough doesn’t mean they are ‘FSG Out’. laugh

I can't speak for the spuds but most of the comments I saw were about the fact that at 350k a week you are moving out of that lower payers echelon and into the Utd, City, Real bracket of wages

It has changed your structure and could lead to others requesting parity when their contracts are up

What Pommys weird net spend wage post had to do with that I don't know

I can't remember the last time I read the thread of envy, however I am certain that without even opening their thread that educating that lot about fiscal matters would be like teaching a monkey how to fly a plane.

He scored a lot of goals but mainly against ste. Might be a good move for united. Save them some money. Wonder if he goes Bayern with Lewandowski moving on? Not like Ronny will want to risk a trip to the US?

Interesting that Henderson has left then to go Forrest. Feel he was never as good as made out.

United need to have a big summer and so far they don't seem to have. I don't think they were as bad as they showed last season, but surely they don't want to go in to another season with Maguire as a starter.

On LFC, I just wonder if we have one more big announcement in us this summer.

United fan here.

Theres a stat that we didnt win a single game that ronaldo didnt play in. Letting him go would be horrific business seeing as we dont have a replacement.

The quote that kicked his nonsense off was 'Liverpool pay City wages now ' literally the post he quoted in response

Yes I did laugh at his post, not only was it wholly predicable and net spendy it also massively missed the point, as it seems have you

I can't say that shocks me though tongue in cheek I'd say you can't have won loads with him either wink

It's interesting. It felt from the outside looking in as an odd signing. You had Sancho rashford and greenwood (and I will assume the club didn't know of the issues coming for the latter) and Ronaldo kind of took all the focus.

He had to provide instant success as he isn't someone you can build round and I imagine that's why he is off as he knows he hasn't got time for the new manager to fix stuff.

His reported salary could be crucial in you being able to buy better players that will get you there sooner.

Wasn't Sancho meant to play the Ronaldo role, before Ronaldo joined? Am no expert but to me it looked like United bought Ronaldo on impulse and of course a bit of sentiment - then shoehorn him into a non-existent system. Ronaldo has done well IMO in a very poor team. Sancho has been sidelined as a result rather than building a style of play around him to get the best out of him.

Sancho is a winger
Rashford is a poor striker currently, better on the wing
Cavani only scores as a sub
Martial gone
Greenwood got transfered to prison fc

We dont actually have any real striker. Probably why when ronaldo didnt play we didnt win. I think he was a spectacular buy for getting someone to bang in goals while buying the fans some belief that united are going to start being at the top again.

The issue lies in the midfield and defence imo.

Mctom is meh
Fred tries hard but cant pass
Pogba injured/didnt have a position to play since bruno
Bruno was poor compared to season before
Donny garbage
Matic past it
Mata too old

Maguire utterly useless and would like to give him away on a free
Wan bissaka cant cross
Dalot bang average
Shaw average form
Telles didnt really get a chance but had some potential as he can cross
Jones awful
Lindelof average
Bailly always injured/loaned
Varane was the only defender I would 100% keep

I think you are definitely short of a striker if Ron leaves so you will need repair everywhere. ETH has got a huge task ahead of him - Klopp was given time and you will need patience - you can't get rid of everyone - probably harder to do now/at United as some players are on huge contracts. Good job ETH is bald as he'll likely have grey hair after 6 months in the job!

442 had an interesting article on ETH this month. I'm looking forward to seeing whether he can actually succeed at OT where others more lauded have failed. The board REALLY need to give him time for an overhaul.

Obviously I hope they don't but if I was a Utd fan, I'd be looking for him being given at least a couple of years and fans not getting on his back.

Let’s see how patient the fans are if they are languishing in 10th and losing to sides at the foot of the table.

Everyone knows what needs to happen there, but it’s a massive job and will take at least a couple of years.

id much rather they'd have got poch that eth, but both would need lots of time. Ronaldo going maybe helps with that timeline too

Ronaldo leaving only makes Utd stronger if they can capitalise on it. If ETH can make Rashford decent again or if they can draught in another very good striker with a few more years left on him. Someone who can be the top of a decent spine in the team. Otherwise it's just freeing up wages without improving the starting XI.
