Well, if we are going to get another duffer, might aswell be cheaper. Progress! No doubt we're going to be linked to every midfielder with legs between now and August.
My bigger question would be: Why have we not appointed a sporting director yet? What incentive does Julian Ward have right now? I'd say none. Just pluck a few names and move on.
Professional reputation? Look at Martin Broughton - he was brought in and the abuse he had for being a Chelsea fan, having "no incentive to help us" and "seeing us into bankruptcy". He had a reputation and did his job. These people are paid LOADS of money for working in a high pressure, intensive environment that few of us mere mortals could operate in. Ward will do his job to the best of his ability, I'm sure. My bigger question would be: Why have we not appointed a sporting director yet? What incentive does Julian Ward have right now? I'm also sure that there has been movement behind the scenes to take some of his workload away - managed transition, and all that. Maybe they think they can do without that role altogether now? I guess we'll see.

Quite a lot of experience for a 20 year old. Decent physical stature and "hardly loses the ball".

21? Must've had a bloody tough paper round when he was a kid.
Has a good working relationship with Ten Haag, who apparently is a big admirer and will probably be very interested if he's available.
It's going to be hard work this summer as the rebuild is going to mean we're going to be linked to everyone (available for sub £50m-ish). However, it's also make or break for us, get it wrong and we're screwed for the foreseeable future. Make no doubt, this window is going to be the most important for some time, balls it up and we lose Klopp, we'll have a new midfield with players on salaries that mean we can't sell them on if they're not successfull (Kieta), and FSG, as we know, will not dip their hands in the pockets to try and resolve it. Add to that the lack of income from the UCL and the improvement made at several other clubs.
This summer if absolutely bloody crucial, we must get this right!

Yep if we screw this up it will be another long period in the doldrums I fear.
who is defintiely going this summer - Keita, Ox, Bobby, Milner?
Also Kevin has indicated he would like to move into a 1st choice keeper role somewhere, so expect him to be sold too. Adrian will also be gone as 3rd choice i think.who is defintiely going this summer - Keita, Ox, Bobby, Milner?
According to Bing's Chat AI thing, Klopp just needs to sign a top quality CB and a creative midfielder this summer as well as some cover:
"Liverpool FC has been struggling this season and there are several areas that Jurgen Klopp needs to prioritize in order to have a chance of winning the Premier League next season. Here are some of them:
Defensive stability: Liverpool has been conceding too many goals this season and Klopp needs to address this issue by signing a top-quality center-back.
Midfield creativity: Liverpool has been lacking creativity in midfield this season and Klopp needs to sign a creative midfielder who can unlock defenses.
Squad depth: Liverpool has been hit hard by injuries this season and Klopp needs to sign players who can provide cover for key positions.
Consistency: Liverpool has been inconsistent this season and Klopp needs to find a way to get his team playing consistently.
Fitness: Liverpool has been hit hard by injuries this season and Klopp needs to find a way to keep his players fit and healthy.
If Klopp can address these issues, Liverpool will have a good chance of winning the Premier League next season."
Sorted.
