Robbo is out with minor ligament damage until at least early September. Tsimikas has been showing what he can do in pre season so hopefully he will continue in the same vein.

The problem with PSG over the last few seasons hasn't been a lack of talent, it's been a lack of steel and mental resilience. Not sure Hakimi nor Messi adds that really?

I'd imagine Messi will have a "Suarez-effect" on the players around him and raise their game.

Second goal was a peach.

You can tell how much more relaxed Firmino is. I hope that continues into games that matter.

He looked like he had a point to prove yesterday. He was also further forward I think - seemed to be more the main striker. Ditto, on your last point.

Anyhoo my last game at Anfield was Athletico Madrid sat next to a Madrid fan trying not to breath for 2 hours.

This season they wanted me to nominate all the people i might transfer my tickets to, yer right that’ll work. They tore that idea up a few weeks back now it’s near field NHS linked spy tech but they haven’t decided how it’ll work - I’m promised an email this week !! It’ll probably arrive the day before Burnley

Anyhoo here’s to a healthy blockbuster season with Big Virg back at the back.

Em... not much - we signed a defender, lost Robbo for a few weeks of injury, on the thread of love and welcome someone made a Nazi joke and racism is only foreign bots, people in general seem to be pretty positive about the next season from the friendlies, no Sye.

I won’t be going to all the games this season so if anyone’s celebrating a bar mitzvah, 21st, lottery win etc give me enough advance warning and I’ll see what I can do.

If I can’t get into Stanley car park (new stand infringing) I’m going to be really pissed off.

Apparently Lyon have offered just €6m for Shaq!

Liverpool allegedly want €8m.

Looks likely he'll be off.

That seems ridiculously cheap either way. L'Equipe suggesting he's agreed a salary of 350k euros a month.

2 things I noticed - they only ever show Karius conceding goals in training; also it looked like everyone being talked about as on the way out was there - except Shaq and Nat. So they are as good as gone, I suspect. Unless they are carrying knocks?

Just watched Ambulance on BBC1, its set in Liverpool this time round. The closing scenes were played with Marcus Mumford of Mumford and sons singing you'll never walk alone. It was quite a poignant version and nice to listen to.
