Premier league say the clubs would have to leave the PL for it to happen.
Dont think they want that to happen, although good for Leicester, West Ham etc
Huge gamble. Dont think they want that to happen, although good for Leicester, West Ham etc
The PL don't really have a product if they kick out the best known teams.
Unless you think they sign multi-billion dollar contracts round the world because people want to tune in to watch Burnley.
For what it's worth I doubt it'll happen.

They say that now, but if it happens they won't. It'll set up a straight choice for the leagues - in UEFA and FIFA or not. Hardly the end of the world if everyone stepped away from that cesspit of corruption and sorted out 'new' football all round.Dont think they want that to happen, although good for Leicester, West Ham etc
I'm not a huge fan of UEFA or FIFA but I've always thought the idea of a closed shop Super League stank. I have no interest at all in how Liverpool fair against a few other greedy clubs from around Europe, chosen for their wealth and success. Forget it.
Saying that, I doubt this will actually happen if the PL and the FA (and UEFA and FIFA) are against it.

It will be a sad day if F$G signed up to this, which they almost certainly did. I wouldn't want to be a part of this - I would stop supporting the club also. Pure financial greed and closed shop will lead to boring games and over time will probably lead to a lack of interest. VAR has put football in a coma, creation of an ESL will kill it.
I just hope this is a power play by the top clubs which even though is still morally wrong, I could live with.

Come on Minamino time to start repaying that transfer fee.
Just realised it's the FA Cup, not the league.Carry on.
And Minamino isn't even in the squad.
I could have just deleted it but thought it was quite funny.

I can't see it being a reaction to the CL changes tbh, if it is then it is very misjudged. If Liverpool do join it and we get kicked out of the PL (as we rightly should be) then I would simply stop supporting Liverpool. It would hurt massively but I could not follow this move.
Agreed a horrible idea, why should other clubs be denied the chance to finish top 4 and play in the elite European competition?Really pissed off by this but not surprised, we are all owned as businesses these days
I've been thinking about this.
IF the clubs had banded together to create a separate governing body to rival FIFA/UEFA, not controlled by the clubs themselves, but completely autonomous, I would be all for that. UEFA and FIFA are corrupt as a corrupt thing and it needs someone or something to shake things up.
However, an American style franchise style league is further from that than what we have now! It just goes to show how out of touch club owners are with fans, or how little they care about the opinions of fans.

I remember listening to an analyst on Talksport when FSG took over the club. They said that FSG see the real money in TV revenue and being able to negotiate broadcasting rights individually rather than a collective. Maybe this Super League with enable them to do that or certainly give them a bigger piece of the pie.

Of course it will. As I understand it, this super league means the TV money just goes straight into their pocket and obviously they'll be sharing the pot with far fewer clubs.I enjoyed all of Gary Neville's passionate rant earlier on and agreed with every word. Linked below in case anyone missed it. Never thought I'd find myself agreeing with him quite so many times...
