France deserved that by more than one. Think Germany could be struggling to get enough points on the board for a 3rd place best qualifier position.
Yep Germany looking a bit tired and lacking movement based on this match. greygoose said:

Don’t know which game you watched but we (surprisingly) made a decent Croatia side look ordinary.
Nothing to be afraid of so far IMO.
I hope you’re joking, Croatia are absolutely awful. Nowhere near the team they used to be. I actually fancy Scotland against them. Nothing to be afraid of so far IMO.
I have my opinion you have yours.
First round of matches complete.
First scorer has won all but one match and that ended as a draw (Wales / Switzerland), plus one god awful 0-0 (Spain)
I’m a bit concerned that suggests another round of cagey matches and few first half goals, with teams only trying to win it in the second half. 28 goals, 21 of those in the second half.
It seems strange that not one team has managed to turn a match around so far.

Even if Portugal beat Germany next time out, I can see Germany sneaking through as a 3rd place team with only 3 points. This new system is unfair. In the old days, no team had an advantage going into their final group games. It was simply about their match and the other one in their group playing simultaneously. But now guess which group will be playing last? Yes Germany’s, so they would know exactly what they have to do to get a lucky loser slot at the cost of a 3rd placed team in the other groups and that match will be home to Hungary. Points won, goal difference, goals scored etc.: all pre-determined by earlier events.
It reminds me of the first Nations League. Germany finished bottom of their group and were relegated from tier A. Surprise, surprise UEFA then decided to change the format from three to four team groups and the relegated teams like Germany were reinstated to their previous tier.

Germany have history in starting slowly, scraping through and then doing better in the knockout stages. But how many great players have they got at the moment? Portugal seemed decent enough, Belgium. France have impressed the most, for me. But they've all only played once so way too early.
