He didn't give Lingard and Watkins very long tonight so I wonder whether that was because he knows they aren't going.
Depressing to hear Ashley Cole after the game saying he'd play Rashford and Sterling alongside Kane v Croatia. Neither of them should be anywhere near starting next Sunday.

My fear is Kane getting injured as we don't seem to have a working plan B. I think I'd rather we took Lingard over JWP on that basis.
On the upside I'm kind of glad we've had a couple of shockers going in to the tournament rather than breezing in to the first game on the back of two decent wins thinking we're world beaters.

Excuse me chopping up your post, unident, but this bit is spot on. The moment we learn that the best 11 players don't always make the best team will be the day we start playing properly and have a chance to win stuff. Look at the days we had Gerrard & Lampard and successive managers shoe horned them in because they were the best 2 midfielders out there. And Scholes, wasn't he played out wide left or something at one point? Players that were world beaters at their clubs were suddenly playing like panel beaters because they were being played out of position. MiniMan64 said:

I think a lot of them played full strength sides in their friendlies. I know the CL players for Chelsea and City didn’t play, but there weren’t even on the bench. Could have played them at the end for the 15mins.
Nope we would rather play players that won’t even be in the squad. According to the commentary, they reckon we will be playing 3 at the back in the first game. Good we played a flat back 4 then.

i think it was Lee Dixon commentating and he was singing Rashfords praises but he was awful, lost the ball 5 times in the opening 20 mins trying to go past 3 people and was no threat at all.Depressing to hear Ashley Cole after the game saying he'd play Rashford and Sterling alongside Kane v Croatia. AS mentioned, Ben white has got the nod for the extra place, i think he should have replaced Mings with White and then taken JWP as he played really well, broke up play in a defensive capacity and looked composed on the ball not to mention his set pieces.
My enthusiasm for the tournament is getting lower and lower, i can see us losing to Scotland for sure
