White working class headlines...
Discussion
Was it just me or did this all just appear for about 12 hours then get scrubbed from the consciousness of the press?
There seemed to be some hard stats on free school meal white working class children and the effect that other agendas had on their progression, in printed press and during the day on the BBC etc.
But it is all gone like it never got said.

Meanwhile, school kids are being taught a new song for Jun 25. It's not at all worrying

The Sasha Johnson incident went very quiet too…
Very true, I would suggest though that the murder or attempted murder of one person is not at the same magnitude of national importance as the possible disenfranchisement of a generation or two of a subsection of our society. grumbledoak said:

Quite. One way or another it seems to be open season on our kids at the moment. I am not wishing nice things for the perpetrators.cirian75 said:

It was on the BBC TV news last night and again at lunch-time today - which I thought was quite odd, they pretty well repeated the same package and I can't recall that happening before on different days. There seemed to be some hard stats on free school meal white working class children and the effect that other agendas had on their progression, in printed press and during the day on the BBC etc.

Not sure if those songs are cringe or very sinister.
Waiting to see who the fabricated enemy will be that we'll have to persecute.
My Nan was a schoolgirl in Nazi occupied Netherlands, the Nazi's did their Youth thing there.Waiting to see who the fabricated enemy will be that we'll have to persecute.
She told my dad and his 3 sisters about the whole thing straight up, nothing hidden.
He's very very angry right now.

Not on the Fail or the Beeb web pages now though - I am sure the articles are still up - it is the speed it has gone from ... Story to archive that surprises me.
It's on the Familiy & Education tab on the BBC News site. There's also a feature on the UK page about white privilege. The oldest news story on the UK page is 7hrs old, so stuff drops off pretty quicklyI have worked in schools for 20 years and never heard the phrase "white privilege" used.
There are a number of reasons why white working class kids underperform and none of them have to do with the colour of their skin.
Many of them are the responsibililty of the Tory MPs that are using that phrase in their report.

My experience at school is a bit out of date but I wonder how much has changed. My friends were white working class (until sixth form when they all left). In general my friends didn’t take school that seriously. They were all looking forward to leaving and get jobs (or just looking forward to leaving school!) Education was not highly valued by their parents and other family members and most were not pushed. Most of their parents were poorly educated and not able to give a significant input or direction. Their role models were people who had left and done well in trades (think Harry Enfield’s loads of money). They actively tried to disuade me from going to university. The phrase “you can lead a horse to water” was apt. I wasn’t sure then and even less now how you deal with that attitude issue. I don’t think it is restricted to white working class. I think working class with roots in Pakistan, Bangladesh or the Caribbean also do poorly.

Nowt do with the colour their skin.
Its classic divide and conquer.

I'm not convinced you can pin it on single root causes. There are plenty of kids from those backgrounds that do well.Nowt do with the colour their skin.

Parenting and fully emphasising the importance of education are vital. Solid family units. Lack of visible prospects etc.
This is where the "white privelege" narrative is extremely counter productive. As you note, divide and conquer. But it also gives people excuses.
