Blimey we've had Ange for a season and we're still in for a shout of CL league football, look how poor Arteta and Klopp were when they first arrived.

He's made mistakes especially in the cup games, but I would never have imagined us in this position this time last year.

Give your heads a wobble.
I'm with you Mickk, new manager, lots of new players, we're actually having a transitional season unlike some others who just claiming they are. Takes time, I am looking forward to next season, but some forward line recruitment is needed.

30 points from the 23 PL games you've played since the start of November is quite rightly concerning people I'd suggest? That's 6 months of bottom half of the table form.
It's 34 points from the 23 PL games we've played since the start of November which is 10th and top half of the table (just). nerd

As mickk said, no idea how we are still 5th in a transitional season - new manager, new staff, new players, new tactics. But I'll take a top 6 finish this season all day long.

And at least we're being entertained, shame injuries and a few dodgy calls curtailed our season.

Always next year.

Can anybody explain what Richy did after we the pen to make it 3-2. As far as I can tell, straight from kick off he just runs straight into the centre back and knocked him over?
Yes he did - hot-headed and I thought he could have seen a red for that and got lucky.

The contact on Kulu by Trossard was deemed minimal (presumably by the ref, but certainly by var as reported) and not enough to be a pen. I think sometimes it is given as a pen - maybe 50% of the time - so Arsenal were lucky there. The other thing on that one is that you can see that Kulu stays on his feet initially then after a couple of steps just drops himself to the floor. Add that to the fact he dived when running down the wing about ten minutes before probably made it easy for Oliver not to give anything.

I thought Spurs were unlucky clearly when a goal is ruled out for being what a few inches offside, and showed a lot of fight. For a defeat there were definitely some positives to take, though I'd be wanting Ange to spend time on set pieces for sure.

What goes around comes around etc. but VAR is demonstrably a failure, considering it was sold as solving clear & obvious errors. The whole logic of offside is to deny opposition players unfair advantages. When they're pissing about with coloured lines to work out whether world class athletes can keep up, the whole thing is discredited. Cov should be in the cup final imo.

And don't forget, those gloating Gooner types, not long ago were complaining to anyone that would listen to sack Captain Scarlet. Now, obviously 'they knew it would work out' rofl

Football fans.

Football fans are fickle… if Spurs were down in 8th or 9th having never bothered the top 4 positions you know some of the fans would be Ange out. A few have been on TalkSport saying exactly that wink

I think VAR offsides should be scrapped until they can be decided in real time. All the players and fans going berserk because they think they have scored, only for it to be cancelled a few minutes later because of some lines drawn after freeze-framing a replay. Offside is supposed to deny attackers an advantage but if it can't be determined in real time, how much of an advantage can it be? I mean, VDV is the quickest player in the league, he could have been a yard onside and he'd still have got to the ball first hehe

It's just sucking all the joy out of the game. I even paused the TV after the goal and went and got a beer out of the fridge. Goal had been cancelled before I'd had my first sip irked

It's the worst thing about the stadium experience by far. The actual fare paying customers, the ones in the stadium creating the atmosphere that the TV companies love, are the worst off. As soon as the goal goes in the stadium goes beserk it's euphoric then you see the ref not rushing back to the centre circle then everyone starts checking their phones looking for messages and forum posts to figure our what infringement the VAR is looking at and what the commentators are saying. It's a really poor experience.

I agree with all that & worded my point poorly, but to be clear, using it to decide games (and it's Coventry I have in mind) on the basis of a toenail, an elbow or half a boot length undermines it.

No measurable advantage accrues in those fag paper situations & logically no infringement is incurred. It's a wholly disproportionate application of the letter of the law. The VDV one was a carbon copy of Haji Wright, it may or may not have changed the day but it's such a common occurrence & draining the life out of the game.

They don't even show the VAR replays in the stadium. So no one knows why a decision has been made.

I can't think of a bigger failure in the game than VAR. The column inches it generates are way bigger than the odd poor decision. Watching WSL briefly the game just flowed.

Yes, that was the worst VAR experience in the stadium so far, My youngest hurdled up 2 rows of seats to see his mate and by the time he'd got there it was ruled out, at leat it was quite quick, but VAR could have broken his leg laugh

Because they are dreadful to watch?

Probably not an issue if you just read the results in the paper the next day....

I think with West Ham, Bowen and Paqueta paper over the cracks a little. If they are doing the business, everything in the garden is rosy and all is well in Hammerland. If they are injured or have a bad game, the negative football hits the top of the agenda for fans to whinge about.

If you'd been subjected to as many poor performances as us ST holders this season, you'd be whinging too biggrin Spent thousands to watch dross for most of the season!
