A nice steady 3 nil and Son coming away with the golden boot would top it of nicely

I know I only have GCSE maths but I think top spot is a little out of reach with one game to go. laugh

Nerves can be alleviated:

We need to score in the first 10 mins.
Put another away before half time
Score 2 more early in second half

Then and only then can we start to think about putting the champagne on ice

Unopened for the moment of course ...

Now you've blown it. biggrin

I think it's probably more likely that the Chelsea sale will fall through and they won't have a license to operate next year.

Be honest, whether we end up 4th or 5th, it's a huge improvement from where the club was in November both on the field and off it. I'd have bitten your hand off for a 5th place finished after finishing 7th last year, having to watch Nuno's brand of Mourinho-ball and with Mr. Steve "I hate transfers" Hitchen in charge of transfers.

Isn't Conte's contract due to run out at the end of next season?

If so Levy ought to be addressing that for you and pronto.

Yes it's a pivotal summer ahead.

It's been noted in recent weeks how Conte's language has changed, from talking about "Tottenham", "the players" to "we", "my players" etc. Clutching at straws but hopefully that's a good sign.

If Levy doesn't back him in the summer he'll be off and we'll be back to square 1.5 again - it would be square 1 but at least the players are fitter, have a bit more confidence, we've transformed the scouting department and made some decent signings.

Well if he wants to stay in the Prem he knows he's not going to get the City, Liverpool or Chelsea (again) gig and as you're the 4th best team I'd say it would be a slam dunk for Levy if he really wants keep him and makes the right financial offer.

Yes. I have to be honest I work with Italians and they are both deeply arrogant and highly emotive. When Conte started coming out in the press suggesting his future might not be with us it really annoyed me. However. There is no doubting his abilities as a coach and man manager. With just a couple of new players we are a different team, with some money, obviously not a war chest he would like, we will do well. The big issue is this season has been an over achievement. Next, if he gets funding will be more pressurised, which could lead to classic Conte syndrome. But it could be worse. We could have Arteta as a coach smile

Levy simply has to back him this summer, regardless of 4th place finish or not. He has no other choice.

After sacking Mourinho a week before a final, then the whole summer manager chase debacle and eventually appointing Nuno, he is on his last throw of the dice.

Remember how hostile it was at the stadium towards the end of Nuno, Levy getting chanted at and booed. If Conte leaves due to Levy’s failing, Levy will be run down the High Road, his position would become untenable.

It's also financial madness not to back the guy.

What's it going to take to keep him happy ... a net spend of maybe £100m this summer plus a small increase in the wage bill?

And a CL last 16 is worth what £70m from TV and bonus money, and then you have to think about CL in 23-24, 24-25 and the merchandising and sponsorship benefits.

And then you factor in the asset value created for the players he's made better ... how much more is Ben Davies worth than a year ago ?

We could all have a go at the maths but in terms of building the club's revenues globally, and increasing the value of the asset spending £50m-£100m net per season must make sense.

Worth remembering if we buy the loan signings in the summer which I would think is a no brainer, I think that's over 50m gone already

This.

Also worth bearing in mind that Kane is not likely to be sold, so we won't have a 100m+ windfall that we could go out and buy a couple of world class players with.

Plus I've given up my season ticket so that's an additional 1500 quid missing from the coffers laugh

Paratici has got his work cut out for him this summer.

Doesnt Yidwann spend that in the snack bar though?

Anyone thought that maybe Conte only wants to stay to next year and has his eye on an international appointment post World Cup?
