And something unfathomable about "solutions". Seemed like a nice guy, but very odd experiment by Levy to stick a geology senior lecturer from a red brick uni in as spurs boss
Not sure why he didn't succeed - geologists tend to be extremely intelligent smart people who can solve problems quickly and efficiently.
Apologies if I've caused offence - I didn't realise you were in academia

To be fair, no one knew the war was coming and that Chelsea would get politically screwed nor that Man Utd would have their worst season for 30 years. What's your prediction for 22/3 then? Spurs to win the title? One has the right to dream wink

I think the inverse will happen next season with Man Utd - no one will have them top 4, and think they will do it. Despite the narrative that they have rubbish players, they don't. When Ollie came that squad went unbeaten for 12 games or something like that and I can see ETH having a big effect very quickly there. Question is, who will fill the other spots? Will we struggle with CL football? Will Chelsea get their act together under new owners? Will Liverpool run out of steam? Will the World Cup interruption break momentum and also lead to lots of injuries? Could be a very weird season.

I’d bet against it. For me their new manager has it all to prove and his recent press conference made him sound just like Rangnick when he entered the job. Man U are no longer a fortress and the mystique around the ground has gone. TBH Old Trafford is a bit of a dump compared to other grounds and they’re going to need a lot of money to rebuild the squad. I’ll give them top 6 given the competition around them. Of course we could find next year to be a complete disappointment? After the overachieving highs of this year if Conte is given a war chest and doesn’t deliver he will be under pressure for the first time. We saw how that went at other clubs smile

I'd agree, I don't think you can underestimate the rebuild and how far United have dropped, its bigger than just the first 11 that go out on the pitch, something seems rotten there. And Ten Haag isn't some kind of known proven manager, for the record I wouldn't have been disapointed if we had appointed him, but his track record is Ajax and he has a lot to prove himself too. Stopping the decline of arguably the largest football club in the world is no easy gig when you are trying to prove yourself too. I don't see it going well.

We've come from a few seasons of 6th and 7th and were heading there again until Conte came in, possibly lower our aim has to be to cement top 4 again back to back, and actually get closer to the top 2 that has to be the next logical step.

United needed Conte to sort out their mess, luckily their loss is our gain.

In a strange way im glad we didn't go for Conte. Yes he would have made a change on the pitch and perhaps sneaked top 4 but our issues are bigger then the team. Conte would have papered over the cracks, and when things started to fall apart in 2 or 3 years time we would be back where we are now.

OGS being sacked, RR coming in has shown a light on the issues behind the scenes that needed addressing. That why you can see the top scouts being changed, Woodward leaving, some other personal going.

I don't think the Utd fans have any real expectation of next season, it could go well it could go awfully, I think the main thing is we have a manager who albeit unproven in the prem can build a team and thats what we need

I was at Nuno's last game when we beat you 3-0, the players were uninterested, strolling around and you looked frankly awful

Conte came in and you turned that completely around with the addition of a couple of players and got top 4

We may have a similar story, we may not, exciting though

A new manager with a system and motivation can work wonders. One of the problems you also have is you're overpaying players. Rashford earning the same as Salah and Kane (and more than Son and Mane) is the most laughable example. And Maguire on similar ffs!

The departures will help things ... the general need to put players back in their box including pay will take a while to resolve.

100% agree and it's why Woodward going is as important for us as any managerial or player signing

We have a number of players at the club who's contracts were renewed by him so that we didn't make a 'loss' and protected our assets

Nonsense

It's why spurs are on a good financial footing. Wages aren't out of control, and we aren't close to the limit under the UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules, so we can take that money from ENIC.

Last money pumped in by them was 2004 when they raised £15 million through a share issue, and Spurs bought Jermain Defoe from West Ham United for £7 million,!!!

Looks like Levys flights off to see Joe paid dividends.

Are financial fair play rules even a thing? Were they ever? Mbappe's recent contract renewal at PSG suggests they really are not.

The irony of La Liga moaning about it on Real Madrid’s behalf was vommit inducing.

Word on the streets so far is Kostic and Bastoni.

Kostic is an older wingback from Frankfurt who is a crossing machine.

Bastoni is a young Italian defender who would take over for Davies. Plays similar to Romero in that he likes to get forward and doesn't mind picking up a card.

I like Bastoni.

Strong, skilful and willing to carry the ball out.
Tall as well.

Speaking of Kane - he's currently in New York and was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on NBC last night.
