Just saw the red card and the Southampton handball.

Jesus Christ that’s embarrassing from VAR. How the hell can you upgrade it from a yellow to a red when a) Casemiro won the ball, and b) his foot bounced up off the ball into the southamptons players shin.

We could be right in the st in the league now.

It’s happening every week where different teams fans are complaining about the same referee problems, it’s embarrassing how bad the refs are in our league.
So much this. If everyone is complaining about the refs, then they’re not ‘impartial and doing their job’, they’re just rubbish.

Dodgy/borderline ref calls are part of the game to some degree but I’m absolutely sure the actual standard now is worse than ever.

How is it just put up with when the quality is so poor?

If Casemiro could stop getting straight red cards, I think it would improve his game.

Just a minor tweak.
500 games in Europe, no reds. 2 in the EPL so far, same Ref involved in both. Totally coincidental.

How the f**k was that not a red card for Burn in the Newcastle match. Way worse and more obvious than Casemiro.

fking joke.

Coincidence is often mistaken for causation.

I'd suggest this is more the cause.

You’ve found the one picture to justify your stance. That shouldn’t have been a red card today. But you get a very different view when you’re actually at the game,

Aye. Posting that still gives it away. Anyone who watched it knows that the picture looks far worse than it was.

Nor would we with consistent decision making. If it's a red, it's a red. Yet clearly around the other grounds and games it's not- even today in the Newcastle game. Marriner the VAR guy didn't send off or even book bad challenges yesterday in a game he was refereeing, and yet today intervenes when the on field ref decided a yellow was enough having seen it clearly. So why is it red this time? Most likely incompetence but when freak things stand out it begs the question.

Prayers are with Marcus Rashford tonight after what could have been a career ending injury. To quote Ferguson ‘he could have been killed.’

When we know our Ref's are st surely the talk in the dressing room's must be don't give them a choice. it's sad really to see the competence of official's at the moment.

That picture is where his studs landed, so was the best representation in a still.

I did view the whole video on Twitter (before it was removed for copyright), before coming to that conclusion.

Well if we are playing that game. This tackle from yesterday. Should it be a red too?

Marriner the referee says no and VAR doesn't intervene. Today he sees Casemiro's and intervenes.

See the problem? Maybe if he was on VAR yesterday he intervenes. Maybe. The problem is we don't know, and there is such a complete lack of consistency it's no wonder the players and fans are confused and questioning both their credibility and integrity.

It’s a stupid stupid law and the inconsistency of application is worrying .
The tackle on garnacho that actually did injure him ..I thought scissor tackles were outlawed ?

Not saying you weren’t hard done by today, but didn’t we have the same ref inconsistencies before VAR?

People analyse them to death because of VAR and what it was supposed to achieve?
