Well chuffed with the Arsenal result tonight; they were a potential hurdle to us winning the competition.

Great result for us and another win on the board. Our season continues, big few matches coming up now, although there’s a bloody international break in the middle of it all.

So are a couple of Gooners I know, though they were hoping to be 3-0 down by HT so they could throw the bench on & rest the first string. They won't be so happy about playing ET.

The league is what they really want.

Yes another good win with a compromised side away from home in Europe.

ETH win % more than any other manager of the history of Man Utd and even Newton Heath. (early days I know)

And that's with a majority of a team he inherited that was running on 30-40% win% 6 month prior! Yes he has added to the squad but he has also had to bring in a Burnley bench warmer as our main striker and Sabitzer playing a key role in a number of positions at last minute, as well as Casemiro missing a number of games this season (think he missed first 6 of season?) its pretty outstanding!!

If we got 3 trophies this season would you say he's done a better job than Arteta if they win the league? Considering he has had chance to build that squad for 3-4 years

I don’t blame them. I’d take the PL over everything else. The CL is great, but only if you’re regularly winning the PL. other competitions aren’t a patch on the league. However, that’s not saying I don’t want to win them all. Plus if we can pick up two of the cups this season that would be a fantastic building block to work from in coming seasons.

However in 3 years if someone offered me a run to the final or even win the CL or the PL I’d take the PL to start off.

I sort of am, but am not. We we concerned about beating Arsenal and now have to play a team that did (depending on the draw).

Looking at the respective run ins I expect city to win the league but if arsenal do it will be a greater achievement than anything United can do this season ,the league is the ultimate test of a team .
That wouldn’t diminish anything achieved by ETH who has done an incredible job .

I think we are going to run out of steam for this european run unless we get that Union team in the next round. ETH hardly rotates unless its forced and I really do like the fact he is going for everything so I am not complaining we just do not have the squad right now. The fact that Weghorst has now more mins that our actual number 9 Martial says it all. Really do want us to get to the FA Cup final and try avoid City in the semi to have one more showpiece game this season - take each as it comes though!

It really does not. You're comparing a player who has played in every game since he joined vs one who is permanently injured.

Remember, Arteta has had a few seasons and plenty of financial backing. If we aren't challenging for the title (genuinely) in 2 seasons, I would be really surprised based on current performance.

The only outlier is the quality seems pretty poor across the league this season - no Chelsea or Liverpool competing, City have been poor, Arsenal look shaky at times and seem to scrap through. It will be a lot more competitive next season for sure. But another summer to strengthen should see us ready smile

Sporting showed great spirit, but Arsenal should have won. They bottled the away game, and then despite being in control last night for the first half, they just lost confidence when Sporting equalised and pretty much collapsed. It could have been a rout in the second half if Sporting could finish. Sporting ran out of puff in ET and just sat in to frustrate them which worked.

Glad ETH is giving each cup competitions a go this season and trying to play the strongest side he can to get the wins.

Its going to be a BIG ask as the players looked tired at times in the past few weeks, but they just need to plough on. Hopefully some of the fringe players can help out and mean we can rest some others.

Issue is in midifled, because with Eriksen out, and Casemiro missing games we are limited to McSauce / Fred and Sabitzer. Bruno is going to have to work overtime to add some creativity in the middle of the park.

Just wish we could get Martial fit, even if its to offer something different to Weghorst at times. Oh well.

Yeh but my point is we have no option but to play him all the time because Tony M cannot be trusted to stay fit. He must be cut loose this summer I would give his spot to Weghorst and buy Osihmen or Kane.

Agreed. Problem is I think we need to get him fixed and fit before we can sell him. Either way I am not sure who would want a player that spends so much time injured

They are 13th in the Spanish La Liga.

We just disposed of Barcelona (top) and Real Betty (5th).

And only 2 points above the relegation zone in La Liga.

However it's "their" competition and not to be taken lightly. Could've been better, could've been worse.

They have the same voodoo over this competition that real have over the champs league which means regardless of how they are in the league it will be very tough .
