Another year on the sidelines won’t make him hot property for any future club though. Permanently injured, miserable sod, little interest in team and not enough goals to assess whether he’s still up to it mean he won’t be able to command top dollar when he does move. If he had half a brain (or his agent did), then they’d be pushing him to have the best season he can, then go on a free.

I think he’ll be used as a makeweight in another transfer though, as has been said. At least that’s what I’m hoping, as we need to reduce the squad and payroll to continue the rebuild.
If he’s not arsed about playing for France then he could quite easily go to the Saudi league and earn a fortune once he’s left us on a free. He will have plenty of options.

Problem with Martial is, why would he drop his wages significantly to move to another club when he can limp through next season and leave on a free? I honestly can't see him going tbh and if we're only getting one striker this summer then he will be back up.

I cant see who would take him? Loans never worked out last year, 1 year left on his deal. Who would sign a player who cant keep fit?

I have a feeling he will sit on the sidelines for another year and go on a free next summer.

Dalot just signed a new deal with the club. AWB out the door given that he has 12months left on his deal and apparently has interest from other prem clubs and we need to sell?

Yes he’s only got 12 months left but with the recent improvement in AWB’s game, we could expect a reasonable increase in fee vs what might have been offered otherwise. Good use of the shop window by ETH I reckon. Who’s our backup to Dalot for the right back spot though?

It’s an odd one on the cover piece. Is there someone in the youth setup that can step up or perhaps they are looking at an upcoming players who needs time to develop into a United player.

Ideally I would keep AWB based on recent performances but he is a saleable asset and we need to sell to comply with FFP and raise funds.

Personal terms agreed with Mount then. If we pay more than 40 million for home then we’ve been had over but if it’s who EtH wants then I’m all for it smile

Getting bizzo done early for a change?

If Chelsea get the deal done before 30th June the money goes towards this seasons transfers and therefore helping to offset some of the big expenditure in Jan.

I definitely agree with the principal of backing the manager, but I do think there's also a line we need to draw at some point where we walk away from deals.

EtH insisted on Antony, and in reality £85mn looks absolutely absurd for the level of talent we've seen so far. We'd have been far better off buying 2 x £42.5mn players.

If EtH really pushes for Mount and Chelsea bend us over for say £70mn I'd have massive reservations over that deal.

We ended up paying that for Antony because the club dithered and fked about low balling Ajax until it got to the point where we had no choice. There were many reports that we could've got him for 45 million if we'd acted straight away in the window. Not Antony or EtH's fault and firmly on the club that one. With EtH now settled in, I hope we do business earlier and better.

Chelsea have to sell so we're in a stronger position.

Also we spent all summer chasing a guy called DeJong, when we could have focused on other buys

Hang on! The press had us focusing on chasing De Jong, the reality was that we were quietly nailing down Casemiro having already got Eriksen. Just like the press will have us chasing Kane this summer with daily updates when there are none!

Happy with Mount if we can get that done. Seems to be hard working and ego free and would fit in with the way we appear to want to play.

Oh agree a lot was in the press, but it was reported that United sent representatives quite a few times to Barca and fee's had been agreed with the club but not the player.

Fingers crossed we would have learned from that st show and we do our business early and on the quiet. According to the Athletic while we want Kane, they have met the representatives of Hojlund and Muani who are younger options and could be a lot cheaper if Kane is a no go.

I do worry that any takeover will result in us losing Arnold as he appears to really have improved the way the club is run since taking over from Woodward.

Business early is absolutely essential, certainly ahead of preseason. As you say fingers crossed but there’s certainly no dressing room leaks anymore and the papers are clueless. The Athletic I do enjoy reading as their analysis is interesting.

Apparently he’s had a real tough season with some crazy stalker woman which has just been sorted so he should improve next year too. As said, as long as he’s not crazy price, I think he’s a good upgrade over Fred / McT.

I like the ego free bit about Mount.

He’s been Chelsea’s player of the season for the previous two seasons and he’s won pretty much everything including the league and the premier league. This year has been injury blighted but he was wanted by all our competitors. He’s the player we’d wished Sabitzer might have been.

Or we might get a proven premier league and Champions league winner all our competitors were, city aside, looking at. Worth the gamble for me particularly as he’s a cog in the machine and doesn’t appear to want to take the glory so he’s spot on to replace Eriksen and having him to learn from him and properly develop would be sweet.

Mount. Rice. Kane. Dream window. All can play together already and know a lot of our squad. In reality we’re up for sale and hardly a magnet for the world’s let alone England’s best players.
