Fearing the worst for today.

The midfield we’ve lavished millions on creating seems to completely lack balance, and the only options we have to “improve” it are to drop our new star signing for McTominay or Eriksen.

We’ve signed 3 starting midfielders in 12 months, yet seem to lack an on paper functional midfield and need at least 2 more.

On the other hand, it’s Spurs…..win and we will have that weird poster on here claiming we have improved majestically as we are 6 points ahead of this time last season.
To be fair it is a functional midfield the tactics were wrong on Monday. Bring Mount closer to Casemiro without the ball will tighten it up.

forum
noun
1.
a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

Amazing that none of you have ever given your opinions on here, such as noise cameras, or people going bald or even gold club shafts, to name but three wink

Yeah Mount has to play a bit deeper surely.

Interesting point made the other day that we spent all of last summer chasing a pick the ball up deep and make progressive runs and passes midfielder in De Jong. And since then we have spent £60mn twice on midfielders, of which neither fit that profile.

So ETH must have had a change of heart as to how he wants to play, or he thinks he can convert Mount into being something else..

On paper Casemiro is a destroyer, and then Bruno/Mount are 2 number 10s who press high and do their best work up the pitch.

So we still don’t have that “controller” in midfield, hence we saw vs Wolves no control in the middle of the pitch as we often talked about last season.

How to get that control in the middle with those 3 as our midfield is the million dollar question.

Shaw was supposed to be sitting alongside him but then you lose his width. We either move Casemiro higher up the pitch to close the gap to the front and close the gap there or Mount drops deeper. It’s all a moot point as we lose the ball too much and too easily.

Mount has a tendency to run where another of our players are and reduces the other player’s options significantly as a result. He’s almost closing them down for the opposition, taking two of our players out of the game, whilst freeing up at least one of the opposition players. He negated a lot of Antony’s options last week for large parts of the game.

I thought that was in a bid to play in a 5 aside style against Wolves packed defence. It can work if you’ve got enough speed as deeper backup to snuff out any breaking counter such as Shaw and Martinez but Wolves were very good at finding an outlet away from Shaw and once Martinez was booked, we were up against it in that first half and consistently struggled once Lindy replaced him. I feel this is where Casemiro ended up so exposed.

The interview with ETH was revealing ,he expects mount to take time to adjust to a new role and will persevere with it .
As has been mentioned we don’t have a ball carrying midfielder which is an issue .
Anyway I am hoping we can’t actually play worse than we did vs wolves .

Meanwhile the club decided to bring back MG but apparently are doing a u turn .

Makes you wonder if united have a pr department
I'm surprised that they thought they would be able to bring him back. The backlash was always going to be huge and it will harm Man Utd's reputation.

I wonder if people will also be frothing at the mouth about Antony’s inclusion….

Man United star Antony's ex-wife Gabriela Cavallin 'is preparing to file a police report in England, accusing him of domestic violence again' after she made similar allegations in their native Brazil in June
Are you always this passive aggressive?

Should I use your words about seeing evidence in this case? That is the key difference, one has evidence in the public domain, the other doesn’t. As and when, either there is a trial and a verdict and / or evidence becomes available for all to see, I’ll reserve judgement.
As is your choice I note you’ve chosen not to address my point above. You do like to call out posters who don’t address your “points”. I called you a tt. Could you please let me know if you’ve read that and the article I posted?

I take your sympathy offered to my challenges with a pinch of salt given your continued insistence on pressing home a point I’ve told you causes deep offence.

As I’ve already said, another of your favourite lines, Please keep your argumentative nature on other threads.

Or of course you could try and justify being a tt. That’d be fun.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to do, other than start an argument. I meant what I said about your situation, but I’ve no interest in discussing it in depth with you on here. The namecalling doesn’t do you any favours.

Stubborness in a manager can be a boon, but it can also be a big risk. Fingers crossed it pays off for him.

I’m hoping he’s coached the st out of last weeks failings.

Me too, although in fairness he might be expecting Spurs to play a higher line and he will also be wanting to know how well his selection works against that. The lads should be pumped up wanting to prove a point too, so it can work out. Hoping at least for an exciting game.
