Yep made some good saves and kept us in the game.
Not the greatest game, but played better in the 2nd half. Amrabat looked good driving from midfield, and used the ball well.
Desperately need Hojlund back ASAP, Rashford is poor as a number 9.
Rashford should be dropped and we should play McTominay as the number 9. He made the most chances for himself and Rooney even said that he originally joined the academy as a centre forward. Not the greatest game, but played better in the 2nd half. Hopefully hoijland will be back by then at least..
And Liverpool should have Trent, Alisson, Endo, Gravenverch, Jones, Nunez, Szoboszlai and Salah back...I felt it was pretty poor yesterday. Without our trio of youngsters at the front, the pace was pedestrian a lot of the time. Just no drive in the team. Rashford still looks like a stroppy teenager whenever he loses the ball and was too happy to go down in the box rather than fight for the ball. Garnacho was pretty quiet too. Onana was ok but didn't have to do much, most of the shots were directly at him.
Overall a very average performance, typical of a mid-table team, that was always likely to be won by one moment of skill - and it was.
Just seems like the entire team have lost the 'drive to survive' (#F1itsbackontoday). No energy, at times it was all a bit pedestrian. We're going to get battered by the scousers and Citeh and it's easy top see why.
I had a bit of hope, after recent games, that we'd begun to improve but that's not the case.

Trent, Alisson and Jones are out until after the international break. Is the quarter final on the 10th?
16th.Liverpool have 4 games before the QF. Utd have 2.
Historically since I've been alive (60), Liverpool have only beaten us in the FA Cup twice from memory, that 1-0 win at anfield in 2006 when Alan Smith got injured and 2-1 in 2012.
We've beaten them in 2 finals, 2 semi finals and 3 other occasions that I can recall.
So giving it all large (as they do) and thinking that it's a forgone conclusion is a bit arrogant, we won't be favourites but have a chance at home.

Other than Mopey's daft comment I don't see any arrogance on here or our thread, other than a few who think this cup is lower priority given our depleted squad. Grim realism from SWoll and Drabbesttunic.you are at home
yes the kids are doing well but can they keep it up?
some of our big players still won't be back for this game
we have 4 games to play before, you have 2
injuries mean we aren't able to rotate the experinced players as much as we should
Very much not a foregone conclusion, always nervous playing you lot anyway as losing is more painful

While I agree it was pedestrian at times, it was preferred over the chaotic end to end football of previous weeks. We seemed to try and keep possession more, and recycle when possible. I agree with Rashford, he is useless as a number 9 and the lack of effort is telling. I mean you might not enjoy it but at least try and give it a go. Garnacho while quiet ran his socks off and was always a outlet on the left hand side. I think he did well without a proper left back behind him. I also thought Antony had a good game, worked hard, kept hold of the ball, some nice inter play with the forwards. While lots didn't come off you cant fault the guy for trying.
I must have watched a different game to everyone else. In Antony I saw a wide player who caused very little trouble for a left back who until recently was playing for Huddersfield.
If the barometer of a good performance from a Manchester United wide player is running around a lot, we may as well sign Mo Farah.

Of course not but for all the st he gets, i thought he had a tidy game, kept possession and did his defensive duties well. Its a low bar to start from, but given the fact many of our players have been accused of not trying then having a good work-rate is something he should be applauded for. Toffolo came from Huddersfield but has been a premier league left back for the past 18months.
