It's his usual way of responding; he informs the press with what he wants to say and nothing more. Usually in a kind of staccato way, with short sentences, He won't fight the press like LvG or Mourinho do sometimes. He will keep them at a short but clear distance as much as possible. He will certainly make sure not to lose players in a press conference or waste too much energy on it.
He got quite a bit of stick in the NL's in his early period (given his background, accent and the way he speaks), both by the media and part of the fanbase. He kept calm about it and carried on, never reacted or looked back on it either. Strong character.
He should work on his English though.
I watched his press conference yesterday and it was quite funny to watch him interact with the press. Doesn't give anything away, clear concise answers, and direct in his responses. Some of the reporters didn't know how to react of take from it. Klopp, Tuchel, Pep, Frank etc all have strong accents, their English has improved as the seasons have passed. Poch couldn’t speak English when at Southampton, Bielsa didn’t even try. He does have a very strong accent and english isnt great but who cares. Roll on the new season.

He is Dutch, so his English will come quickly, but there will always be some sort of accent, just as I’ve still got a strong Irish accent, despite living here for over a decade now. Hell, Ferguson was still hard to understand when he got into a rant when the Weegie accent came out even after 20+ years.
Re Old Trafford ... is the thinking to sink the railway and then use the land above the railway, adding a second tier to the BCS and the two adjacent quadrants?
Should work well and free up some land behind the stadium. Doesn't deal with the roof line - perhaps they could look at a new style of roof for the new stand?

As much as I love OT and the history of the place, in my opinion it needs pulling down. It's not fit for todays standards in many ways.Should work well and free up some land behind the stadium. Doesn't deal with the roof line - perhaps they could look at a new style of roof for the new stand?
I work in the rail industry and can guess it would cost at least 150 million to drop the railway and do all the necessary structural work needed for the stadium to bridge it. It would be a huge job and would end up costing nearly as much as just rebuilding a state of the art stadium like Spurs.

Yep. It’s a relic now and probably cheaper to knock down and rebuild then trying to renovate it. Spurs stadium is fantastic amd they’ve got the right idea by trying to make it a full match day experience by getting people to go early and stay afterwards to generate more cash on the day. anonymous said:

No chance the Glazer's are dropping a £1bn+ on a new stadium. `I agree with you all that it should be done but demolishing OT isn't going to happen. They will have affordable solutions to take the capacity to over 80K and enhance the hospitality further still for 15% - 20% of the cost of a new build. We all know the Glazers well enough.

Getting network rail approval for that would be fun in of itself!I work in the rail industry and can guess it would cost at least 150 million to drop the railway and do all the necessary structural work needed for the stadium to bridge it. Much cheaper just to level it and redo, especially when it comes to upgrading utility infrastructure etc for the next few decades of changing demand.

True enough, but we can dream. The railway line is a real problem for a]bolting stuff on though, so you never know. Levelling it and rebuilding might actually turn out to be a similar cost. Sorry to bring up the Carragher stuff again, but has anyone seen the twitter spat with Liam Gallagher that happened after Sunday’s results? You’d think Sky would have some form of professionalism conduct written into their contracts, especially after the spitting incident.

The roof massively detracts from old trafford, but I guess it's not a great ROI on that change. Unless you went full retractable roof and massively increased the use for concerts etc.
