The most important aspect for Dutch defenders is that they can pass a ball over the ground to someone wearing the same shirt, If they defend is just a nice bonus.

Besides, he will be covered in the back by one of the most expensive defenders in the world anyway

The only thing that has bothered me about ETH is it seems he thinks he can use Maguire in the style of football he plays which involves the defence playing a high line which is exactly what Maguire cannot do.

But ETH will have to use what he has been give and adjust accordingly. Generally I thought Maguire tended to be not bad on the ball, it was his defensive work which is terrible.

Plus better midfielders in front shouldn't expose him as much. Also getting De Gea to come off his line would minimise some of the risk as well.
