Palace vs. LCFC at the weekend, the winner of that stays up the loser goes down?
That's probably true of Palace's next 6 games...!

They have to play pretty every other team in the relegation battle before end of season.
In theory, they are in the driving seat having managed to get to this point playing all the top of table teams, and still not be in bottom 3.......until they sacked Viera!!

However, those other teams probably now see their game against Palace as being their win it and stay up 6 pointer, so in that regard, it could be harder for Palace, but you feel, they must be able to win at least 2 or 3 of those 6 pointer games, which should see them save?

Not convinced Woy can do that at age 75 though......

I laughed when Roy was connected to the CP job last week.

I think that is a terrible backwards appointment that will end in disaster.

As a Palace fan I'm hugely concerned as the football we played under Roy was often turgid, depressing stuff, however there aren't many options at this stage of the season. Roy is only there for the last ten games and I'm pretty sure he will have "offered to help". Getting Shaun Derry back will be a great help too.

There will be fans up and down the land that agree with your assessment, but I do think he'll steady the ship and see us get the points we need. Which almost certainly wouldn't have happened under Vieira as he just kept playing the same way with the same players and you know the definition of insanity.....

David Moyes, 4231 ... every week, every game, regardless of opposition. With his favourites playing each week, regardless of how bad their form is.

Its the definition of insanity, as well as a definition of relegation tactics. Using the same tactics players and formation that got you into the relegation zone thinking that it will somehow get you out.

A weird (re-)appointment. Leeds fan so I'm eternally optimistic but I think the three will be Southampton, Bournemouth and one of Forest or Everton.
I think Southampton and Bournemouth and then pick anyone from 12th down for the last spot.
Statisticians are saying Southampton, Bournemouth and Forest in this article in BBC today.

I'm uneasy about everyone slating Soton (beat Chelsea, drew with Utd and Spurs) and Bournemouth (beat Liverpool, were 2-0 up at the Emirates).

4 points is a ridiculously small margin between 12th and 20th.

I think "home winnable games" may prove to be the key Stat cos they are all pretty crap away from home.

Palace are interesting as they have to play every single club below them in their remaining games, having played pretty much all of the top 10 in their last 10 games. I'd be worried as a fan, 8 6 pointers on the back of no form at all. With Roy.

Everton and Leeds have the worst run ins I think. Which should probably downgrade their chances somewhat.

Having said all that...I'm going Soton Bournemouth Forest biggrin

(Everton fan. It's hard to envisage a scenario where 6 pts from our last 2 games don't keep us up IMO. But I'm a bit worried about people dismissing us from the battle with a "You've got Dyche, you'll be fine". Sincerely hope they are right)

Well, Bournemouth and Palace have both made a good stab at survival today.

Huge match tomorrow with Southampton vs West Ham.

Extraordinary performance by Palace today, ridiculous stats. 31 shots, 9 on target.

Last month Palace didn't have a shot on goal for three matches running... Vieira was clearly out of his depth.

Or we are just genuinely the worst team in the league haha.

We've now decided to sack the clown, potentially too little too late.

Next 2 matches are huge, 4 points minimum needed.

I've always been a fan of Rogers, shame for him it hasn't worked out at Leicester. I don't think he'll be out of work long...

I've never hated a manager so much, absolute spineless piece of turd IMO.

He'll go elsewhere, do a decent job for 18 months then start taking the club down. I wonder if he'll bring his world class scouting team with him again, we've signed more duds in his tenure here then we did in the previous decade.

I think we'll get Rafa until end of season, but only my opinion.

Ha! I feel much the same about Vieira, who is much revered by those who haven't had to watch the same old crap he served up each week!

Weird how everyone else raves about these managers but actual fans can't stand them biglaugh

Everton could pick up a massive 3 points tonight.

Well, looking at the run in of games for the current bottom 3, it's looking increasingly likely these 3 will be the 3 to go down now, especially with Everton having to play Leicester and then Bournemouth in the last game.

Big chance for Everton to pull away (a bit) from immediate danger. Home to Fulham, who have 1 point in 5 games. Must win

Last chance saloon for Southampton?

Can't see Leicester Forest Bournemouth and maybe Leeds (depending which Liverpool turn up) getting much this weekend.

Edit: West Ham have Arsenal too (and Thursday night football)

Yes West Ham will struggle this week. Big effort in the Fulham game, then Thursday then arsenal.

Would take a scratchy point against Arsenal in an ideal world, or just keeping the goal difference down

Well Bournemouth & Wolves did themselves a big favour today, and Palace continued their run.

Have to say it looks like Southampton are now toast with their run-in of games and form.

Everton definitely still in the mix, as could Leeds be.

Leicester have three big game coming up next, Wolves, then Leeds & Everton.

I think the Leeds v Leicester and Everton v Leicester games will determine which of those teams will join Southampton and most likely Forest to be relegated. Even if Forest manage to beat Southampton, I can't see them getting any other points in their remaining matches.

Or not smile

Keeping Vieira would have been a disaster
