I was pissed just watching the score grow on bbc.co.uk biggrin

It's hard not to think they'd be getting a tonking in the Championship with the team playing like this. Hard to know what to blame the most...defence?

I’m very much a glass half full fan. Been going so long and seen it all. So I don’t tend to get too low with the lows.

The best players were ripped out of the team in the summer. We haven’t replaced them with high quality. We’ve been unlucky-ish with injuries in defence.

In my opinion promotion saved the club financially and the owner/ board always intended to take a strategy of plan for relegation and hope for more. The way it’s going the negativity could carry through to next season.

Half the team being out of contract could help that to be shaken off, ironically. I can see the bones of a strong championship squad for next season, being so far off surviving means we can throw the youngsters in now and help them gain some experience.

We have options on bogle and Osborn I learned today. This is a possible championship 11 that I think could (focus on the word could!) do ok in the championship.

Grbic
Bogle, Egan, JLT, trusty, RND
Davies, brooks
Hamer
Jebbison, Osula

There’s players like Osborn, arblaster etc around the team now who would form the squad and it’s all of a sudden not a terrible championship side.

I see Anel, Souza, mcburnie, baldock, Norwood and all those players moving on if I’m perfectly honest. Which won’t be the end of the world.

Not sure if we could get Diaz again if in the champ? But he would be a great addition

Only players I’m really interested in retaining are Egan & Baldock, the rest can go for me. Maybe take up the option on Bogle and Osborn for numbers. Right back is a strange one because we’ve got Sachdev, Seriki and Curtis coming through but not sure they’re ready for Championship yet or which one will break through first.

I suspect Souza, Ahmedhodzic and possibly Hamer to be sold (as well as Villa taking Archer back) to raise funds for the rebuild. I’m happy with a midfield of Davies/Brooks/Arblaster/Peck though.

Can't think of too many that have played even close to potential so wouldn't really care if it was wholesale change. Including manager and owners.

Our best players continue to be loanees. Not sustainable.

I like Hamer, Archer, McAtee and Diaz. They broadly look like they know what they're doing.

Bogle next broadly. Fan of Norwood but he's not getting younger.

Baldock and Egan have been nowhere near this season.

Tom Davies feels like an archetypal Wilder player so I expect the midfield to be built around him.

I’m expecting AA, Hamer & Souza to be sold to fund the overhaul our defence desperately needs.

At least with some of the 19/20 crop of players out of contract we should save a fortune off the wage bill if they all go. I’m guessing it’s why a lot haven’t signed yet - we’re probably offering big cuts to their old salaries.

Unless Tom Davies has become a different player since his days at Everton warming the subs bench where when he did come on, he looked like a member of the crowd who'd won a competition to have 10 minutes on the pitch, thats a staggering statement smile

To be fair I think that's the point he's making? Plenty of archetypal Wilder players looked like mere bench warmers before they joined us and were great in that L1/ champ team in his first tenure

Yep - british, showed lots of promise in his youth but fell away, struggling to find form. Could be a carbon copy of Fleck or McGoldrick.

Or he could be the next Rodwell or Morrison. certainly think stepping down a level can only help his development.

OK, subject to West Ham doing us a favour, next mission accomplished - off the bottom.

But FFS.

Can’t even have one weekend off bottom can we? laugh

On the plus side it’s 19 days before we have to watch them again.

Wish I never started this thread.

We need a big re-set. Certainly the worst season since I have been watching. Not going to get anywhere until we see new owners. We are a decent club at hart. Always the underdog that performed well and dismantled way better teams on paper.

biggrin

This is far from the worst ever. We've played st and been in League 1 before, so playing st and being in the Premier League is an improvement on that!

It does need better owners, but that's highly unlikely. It's not the sort of club to attract the Americans or the proper Middle East Princes. So until one of us wins the lottery, we can look forward, hopefully, to decent Championship runs, the odd foray into the Prem and back down again.

If we slip into League 1 again, THEN we can really moan.

And on the bright side, where are our good friends across the city currently....

At least with the recent announcements about training facilities and hotel we have something to show for our time in the premier league even if this isn’t reflected in the playing squad. I guess these potentially make us more appealing for outside investment anyway.

Was driving down from Sheff (parent visit...couldn't get tickets for the match) and when my eldest noted we were 3-1 up at 84mins the other three of us reckoned we'd still lose. So a draw was a bonus biggrin

But FFS. 4 points dropped in 2 games. Ifs and buts etc...but we'd only be 3pts off getting out of the zone with those feckin points, and some momentum building.

Now we go into a game against Liverpool...(who frankly I'd rather we didn't get anything against as I'd like them to win the title).

bks.
