A last minute throw of the dice that had we scored from it would have seen no-one complaining about the obvious risk. Small margins and all that.
Penalties are always a a crap shoot so why not give it a go?
I think we saw why. 2 players back plus goalie would have been rather safer (not "safe", granted). And made little difference in their box.Penalties are always a a crap shoot so why not give it a go?

4 points off for Forest, subject to appeal, so it will get halved.
There's not much of a deterrent, is there?
No, it isn't sadly. Forest overshot more than Everton in terms of spend yet get less points deducation (apparently because Everton provided incorrect information)There's not much of a deterrent, is there?
Whilst I do not want Everton to go down (yep, really), I do think the PL should have stuck to the 10pts to act as a detterent in future. Trouble is clubs will now use the Everton and Forest "result" as a safety net almost to overshoot PSR if need be and know they can refer back to those cases and be docked at most 4pts, which might not trouble them. Clubs were genuinely afraid over the Jan transfer window to spend money, so you can see how much of a real deterrent it would have been had the 10pts stuck.
Reading a bit on Sky Sports' explainer about the cases and charges, it seems the Everton and Forest ones were very specific breaches to 1 set of controversial rules which may well be getting changed in the future. City's multiple (alleged) breaches are relating to a very different set of regulations being broken (allegedly) and really shouldn't be compared.
They do also say the PL never ever reveal when the hearings take place. Presumably this is to avoid the press descending en masse and reporting then being unable to influence outcomes but it's a shame that's necessary as any "secrecy" just makes them look shady and untrustworthy.

Nothing like making it all overly complicated They do also say the PL never ever reveal when the hearings take place. I love how a picture of 4 trophies with a cross through one is supposed to be some sort of sleight on the Club and fans.
Especially when one has a tick next to it as we've won the only trophy final so far this season..I do find the fact we live rent free in the heads of so many opposing fans utterly delicious.

I'm still pissed off about the manner of defeat at the weekend
These are my feelings about it as well. If we played well and were defeated by a much better team then OK, I'll still be disappointed but we were complacent and slapdash. If you have a 5v2 attack on and don't get a shot off to trouble the keeper then that is an issue. Utd were there for the taking and we let them off as this is the lowest priority for us so we made subs that we never would if this was the Prem. To me it felt like we thought we'd done enough so could take off Sobo and Mo to give them a bit of rest with no issues which was a mistake. I might have read it wrong but we started the 2nd half like a training game and when we went ahead we got too confident.ferrisbueller said:
I read something earlier that the result at the weekend was the biggest win of EtH's career. Really, an FA Cup Qtr?
I'm still pissed off about the manner of defeat at the weekend, but then I'm still pissed off about Ramos doing the dirty on Salah etc. Just add it to the list.
Apart from winning an actual trophy and finishing 3rd in his first season he's done sweet fa...I'm still pissed off about the manner of defeat at the weekend, but then I'm still pissed off about Ramos doing the dirty on Salah etc. Just add it to the list.
