How Coe has the time for this ‘world class stadium’ stuff what with him being head of World Athletics and all, I don’t know.
I hope there is no thought of a running track around the pitch
Surely there will be … it shouldn’t be just for football should it, if the public purse is involved? Or even if it’s not. Man Utd just want someone to build them a new stadium it sounds like, when they’re supposedly a club with this huge income.

I was thinking exactly that. A lot of people don't actually like football.

If designed similar to The Allegiant Stadium (as in my video above) they could get rid of Carrington and have everything under the same (retractable) roof.

I’m quite cynical with this as we’ve had a group of world beaters coming through every couple of years forever and we occasionally see one who makes the grade. I’m hoping we’ve learned how to feed the kids properly so those who get a chance are taller than 5’6 and weigh more than a soggy lettuce.
Don't be too worried about feeding the kids, Rashford has a lengthy contract now, and that's right in his wheelhouse that.

United are paying for the stadium. What's being discussed is the regeneration of the surrounding area. Potential for better transport links, new housing, business opportunities. Bringing the council onboard and interested parties together means that redevelopment can be discussed on a bigger scale rather than just a stadium build.

Fair play then if that is the case - you couldn't have a better guy than Coe working on this - he has a lot of connections and pathways to Govt. Still don't know how he does it all though ...

This exit will just angrify them and spur them to accelerate to the league title.

Can't say the same for Arsenal; they're a bunch of pansies.

I don't think it is cynicism, it's reality. Look at how many youth team players make it into the first team of any top Prem team.

I think making it from youth into an elite top level team (Liverpool, City, United, etc) is such a hard step.

But we do produce a lot of youth players who go on to have good careers at a very high level (even if not top top level).

Even in recent ish times - Axel Tuanzebe, Fosu Mensah, Angel Gomes, James Garner, Dean Henderson, Teden Mengi, Danny Welbeck, Sam Johnstone, Jack Harrison, Dwight McNeil, Michael Keane, Paddy McNair, Anthony Elanga etc etc

All having excellent careers at almost the highest level possible but just not quite at Man Utd level.

The ones who were most hyped in recent times that didn't make it for us are Tuanzebe, Fosu Mensah and James Wilson who were all meant to be the next big thing and didn't quite make the cut.

Honourable mention to Adnan Januzaj in this regard too.

Garner / Williams most recently. The Keane brothers (twins?) whilst the maths is correct that few actually make it onto the big or biggest stage, we have a tendency to overhype things. We seem to expect 8 or 9 of every year not just to be half decent but world beaters. Then some on here get swept up in that giddiness.

Plenty of them go out on loan never to be seen again or sold for pennies, but all were hyped up massively on here and elsewhere. However, we have missed out on some real diamonds too.

An interview with Schweinsteiger by Gary Neville

https://youtu.be/1ACloJetIE0?si=0WavIGhQbQc4nXdc

One of my favourite players ever and he is pure class. An absolute disgrace how he was treated in the end, shameful.
