As a supporter of Forest since 1966, that statement is just plain embarrassing!

Agreed. But it’s not one or two bad VAR decisions it was at least 3 in that game and there have been numerous others against us during the season, not marginal calls at all.

Yes, as usual Forest stunk the place up. Hopefully a nice points deduction incoming and we can have a proper club in the league.

Doesn’t matter who we play if the referring team perform like that.

Agreed, but not the way to approach it. The type of statement us emotional fans make not a professional company.

As a Watford fan I have every sympathy regarding Atwell. He consistently makes awful decisions when he officiates Watford (including the infamous ghost goal). He shouldn't be near games he has an interest in, he has consistently proven he cannot officiate neutrally.

My gran would have saved the first one. The second one is a much better strike.

Embarrassing? Yes. But what else can we do? It's a fking disgrace. And it won't get better unless fans and clubs take things further.

City on 115 charges but nothing being done. Awful VAR decisions every week but nothing being done. FA Cup replays scrapped to benefit the top 8 in the EPL with no consultation.....

Perhaps it will take a few clubs standing up for themselves for changes to be made.

Very good points particularly in regard to the FA Cup, and we are probably so far up sh*t creek, we have nothing to loose.

What alternatives do we have other than kicking up a stink.
An apology in a week’s time - as has happened several times - doesn’t mean a darn thing.

At the very least PGMOL should face scrutiny as to why on earth someone thought it a good idea to put Atwell in charge of any game involving a bottom six side. PGMOL have done this (to us) before.

Love to hear your definition of a ‘proper’ club. Forest have plenty to be proud of, we apologize to no one in our contribution to football down the years.

If we are guilty of one thing it’s trying to make a bridge between the Championship and the Premiership. We tried to accelerate the process and it’s been rough.

Having ambition and not being able to execute is the downfall of many more clubs than Forest.

Looks like we’ve calmed down a bit with our follow-up message:

Following yesterday’s match at Everton, NFFC issued a statement highlighting our concern at the perception of the PGMOL appointment of VAR for the game. This was an issue we raised with PGMOL prior to the fixture because of the fear of the side show that would ensue if anything went wrong with officiating in the game. That fear has materialised, as the correctness of three important decisions against the Club have been called into doubt.

This is not about individuals but rather how the integrity of the game is seen. We know match officials do not allow outside factors to influence their decision-making and that all referees are required to declare their ‘allegiances’ to PGMOL to avoid any perceived conflict or harm to the game’s reputation for integrity.

However, it is clear PGMOL must amend its rule on allegiances to account for contextual rivalries in the league table, not just local rivalries. This is currently not within the criteria but should be. Mere reliance on match officials to recuse themselves if contextual rivalries exist invites conjecture, as some have recused themselves where others have not.

NFFC stands by its request for greater transparency around PGMOL appointments to further protect the game’s reputation, as intended in PGMOL’s existing approach to allegiances.

Given the widespread and ongoing concerns, not merely of the fans, players and managers of this Club but of many others and the pundits too, over VAR decisions throughout this season any move which boosts confidence in the system should be properly considered.

Damage limitation?

I mean it needs to be said, fans don’t like VAR. It’s not helping get decisions right and it’s seems ton more divisive than ever.

The club should have taken the emotion out of it and sent that statement Monday morning. Tweeting 1 minute after the match is never a good idea.
